The hint of a light at the end of the tunnel is an incredible boost and can't be underestimated in its impact. I see my colleagues and myself with increased energy and fortitude for what feels like the final push towards brighter days.

It actually makes me pretty emotional seeing the collective response of our local community both in obeying lockdown and in taking up the vaccine.

Last figures I saw showed a 75% reduction in case positivity in Dundee/Tayside in just 6 weeks. That is incredible. I know how hard everyone finds this, and other threads on this board highlight just how hard it is and how it effects individuals. I just hope the knowledge of how effective all this sacrifice has been, and how appreciated it is by those on the "front line", is some comfort to those who are struggling most.

In contrast to the most famous quote (I am about to misquote), I genuinely believe never has so much been owed by so many for the actions of so many.

Everyone in our community deserves huge credit for all they are doing to help get us out of this. We are suffering as individuals and as a society but it is making a massive difference.

I know none of you personally, but I know that whenever I eventually get back into Tannadice I feel even more connected to all around me. I can't wait for that day.
Brilliant post mate,as soon as we knew we had a positive in the work place we shut everything down in 15 minutes and have not worked since.
It would have been so easy to take the carrier home and tell him not to name the others as contacts but we played it by the book. The FACT we got nothing in financial support is a pity but the SCOTTISH government have reached out and changed the rules and there is a possibility that we maybe rewarded for following the protocols to the letter.
The ENGLISH government only pay the isolation grant if you are in receipt of Universal Credit and that is why so many on low pay but not on benefits carry the virus into the workplace they simply cannot afford to isolate,FACT.

Dreamsof83, i cannot begin to think what you and your colleagues have been subjected to through all of this, especially when you then jump back in again when stretched to the max and start delivering vaccines at a phenomenal rate!

For what has been achieved in delivering the vaccines, the figures speak for themselves in getting 99% of older care home residents, 93% of over 80s in the community vaccinated while greatly exceeding vaccines delivered to your colleagues. While tidying up the stragglers in those groups, in less than a week, 56% of 75-79yo and 20% of 70-74yo with some NHS authorities i believe also delivering to 60-69yo.

Hopefully you will all get the rest you people deserve!

Great post dreamsof83. Excellent counter to the depressing report by Channel 4 news last week with the amount of abuse and death threats NHS staff have had from the conspiracy theorists

A good reminder that these people are a deranged minority.

And the deranged minority and the weather still cannot dampen peoples enthusiasm to go and get their vaccines and the numbers still go up!

99.5% of older adults care home residents, 90% staff.
93% of all adults care home residents, 77% staff.
94% of over 80s in the community.
64% of 75-79s in the community.
26% of 70-74s in the community.

A bit of negativity with AZ/Ox vaccine in not so effective for the SA strain, but fingers crossed we are working to eliminate that strain.

Think i am seeing reports now that Boris is thinking of opening the pubs for takeaway pints in April, and relaxing the rules further in May. I just hope he doesnt go all travel, dont travel again and set us off again with some other new strain!

You reckon once the auld anes and vulnerable are vaccinated we will start opening everything back up or will we need more people vaccinated first?

I think things will open up with tiers again like the summer.

That's a banker Terence, there is also the South African strain to worry about and needless to add Boris being too lax on the travel corridor. There are now people in England itself backing Sturgeon saying they are not being strict enough with too many hot spot countries not on the banned list.
Another thing i was thinking about the other day is the Illegal's in the UK,how the F are they gonna get the vaccine when they are not supposed to be here in the first place?.Don't quote me but i'm sure i read a while back there could be well over a million of them spread across the UK.

I dont know bud. Think it will all depend on how well they do in suppressing the Kent and SA strains, with the latter needing to be properly controlled if vaccines dont work as effectively on it. Schools are going back very soon, but if that is half classes week on, week off, then i doubt they will be letting us get to the pub any time soon. However, if transmission remains low, then i see no problem in going back to the Tiers.

Im sure Boris will open thing up too early, and Nic will keep the foot in a wee bit longer.
