Some amount of nonsense posted on here.

When schools went back, Covid cases increased rapidly.

School staff are at risk as they are in a confined space with 20-30 other people, with little social distancing, especially with younger kids that don't really understand the rules. How is that less dangerous than the situation bus drivers, police etc are in?

The criticism of the teachers unions and the general lack of respect for teachers is depressing. The amount of parents that are struggling to home school a single child shows what challenges teachers with classes of 20 to 30 kids have.

And if you think their job is that easy with all the in-service days and 12 weeks holiday, why not train to be a teacher yourself, it's clearly a dawdle.

The lack of respect is a disgrace considering the importance of their job. They are held in very high regard in most other countries.

Why don't they train to be window cleaners?,its a dawdle out in all weather's climbing the empire state building twice a day,not getting paid when sick, not getting paid when in isolation, not getting paid when we get a foot of snow and not entitled to ONE FN days holiday pay a year.

FN sick hearing about them and their problems, most of them would not be able to keep up with my levels of fitness and i am riddled with rheumatoid arthritis and only cancer drugs, steriods and strong pain killers allow me to work but it wont last for me or anyone else with my condition.

Its also worth mentioning that the world class education that Scotland had in the past is long gone but i suppose that's the fault of the Scottish government and not the snowflakes sitting on their arses all day with a quarter of the year on holiday.

    Forgot to add FACT,FACT.

I was entitled to F ALL when originally told to self isolate due to being a close contact of someone with the virus and had to close my business down on the spot.
Can someone on here not happy with what i have posted about teachers tell me they are treated in the exact same manner as i was?.In other words entitled to the square root of F ALL when a wee 5 year old has made them a close contact.

Why you were entitled to F ALL in your shut down, i dont know. As ive spent over 30 years in paid employment, i know the square root of absolute zero about being self employed which i assume you are?

Cant say im unhappy about your opinion, it just differs from mine in this case.

Young lass is a secondry teacher up in Aberdeen her man is an electrician they both got the covid. It was him who caught it through working in kirkaldy hospital and passed to her. They are both young and healthy and it never really bothered them just like a cold.Don't think they would have knew they had it if the guy her man was working with had not got it and got tested his work told him to get checked and found out he had it then young lass got checked and she had it their duaghter never caught it even being in house with them all the way through it.So maybe he should have got vaccine first?I am in cohort 7 but am still on furlough and would not mind people in higher cohorts who think they are in more danger than me receiving vaccine first I am fit and healthy and see lots of people in their 30's 40's 50's that look lot more in need than me.Think the problem of giving it to who needs it is easiest if they work by the science and do it in manner of who is dying most from it and that seemed to go by age and underlying problems so think until the science changes they will stick with that.

WTF are you talking about? I feel extremely sorry for folk in your position and there is no doubt that you should be given the help that you need and deserve.

Why you need to attack teachers for fighting their own corner doesn't make sense. They've got a good, strong, organised union that looks out for their interests - how does that impact your situation? Divide and rule seen to be working here. Blame another group that are a bit better off than you rather than the folk at the top who are running the show.

I am an independence supporter but I would put a fair bit of the blame on the Scottish government for the decline in our education standards. They seem to be looking to the Scandinavian countries for ideas as to how to improve our education system but a lot of the ideas don't work because we have many more social problems than they do.

And having a go at teachers because they don't do a physical job and calling them snowflakes is something worthy of the Daily Mail.

Its worth remembering what started this debate in the first place and its the sense of entitlement of the teaching unions that their members should be allowed to skip the Q because they are special.
My only problem with that is it could derail the vaccine rollout in Scotland and lead to more deaths in higher age groups because 25 year old teachers with no underlying health conditions were prioritised for vaccine's they do not require just now.
That's WTF i am talking about.

As have said before young lass is a teacher and she agrees older and more vulnerable should get vaccine before her she says other teachers she knows agrees also .So not all teachers think they should skip queue think it is more the union that think they are special.Older and more vulnerable teachers will get treated earlier like everyone else.

100% agree with the above and very glad its from a teachers father,i of course have no problem with teachers but have never had much time for the EIS,my memory is shocking but i will always remember the first i ever knew about the unions in childhood was being on unofficial holidays from school due to the EIS.

As the husband of a member of support staff who is not an EIS member, i would like to see all school staff vaccinated.

And the EIS is not the only union who is trying to make the case for this. Various police unions and federations are putting their cases forward.

The thing is though, the ones we rarely hear a voice from are the Taxi Drivers, Bus Drivers, Shop Workers. and it is us who should start to shout if things change and they are forgotten about.

As to slowing things down, i have my doubts on that as Cohort 6 that is being dealt with just now, i believe quite rightly doubled in size overnight to include carers and their immediate families, and i expect some of these are harder to identify than lists that are sitting in HR departments.
