Do people hate Nic that much now that they totally ignore the fact that it doesnt really matter what Boris does in England, as it has very little relevance to the devolved nations?

Back being serious now as i wonder what evidence you see that lockdown isnt working?

That's just pure negative speculation on your part.

Think the details would have come to light by now if it was that dangerous.

Not negative just realism as there’s been a few variations now and certainly not speculation?.Maybe a tad exaggerated but surely the current vaccine doesn’t cover the mutations so we’d need more jabs

With the virus having a habit of mutating it has totally blown out the water the theory that was popular on the right of letting the virus run through the community until we achieve herd immunity. There would be no herd immunity just perpetual cycle of infections. More deaths, more cases of long COVID and with multiple infections this would play havoc with the body.

Well for a start we’re still locked up and no release date yeah you might say July but that’s only maybe, even with the vaccine there’s no guarantee. How many businesses have went to the wall needlessly when the scientific data says 1% in real danger. This won’t go away are we gonna open up for 3 weeks then shut down for 9 months every time there’s a new strain.

Each time the media try and misreport how mutations "could" hide from the vaccines, you can just wait a week or 2 for that to be dispelled when its found whatever vaccine is still effective.

If a shifty mutation does appear, the scientists are confident any of the vaccines could be tweaked to deal with that, just like what happens every year with the flu jab.

It is negative speculation. You have no proof that any new variant will avoid the current vaccines. There has been a few new variants as you say, but the vaccines have so far proved efficient, especially the Pfizer one, despite whatever the sensationalist press headlines would have you believe. There's been no need for any new vaccine so far and we're, dare I say it, passed the peak of the virus. As Chick says, the media love to scaremonger with news of new variants being 'more deadly' and our vaccines 'not being effective against them' but those rumours are quelled within weeks once more is known about each variant.

Yes, we are still locked up, and i dont have a date in mind for when this is over. Last week I was confident the data was heading firmly in the right direction, but this past week we are seeing daily figures in the 600s, and the 7-day average on the rise through the 500s which means that we are where we should be just now.

Where do you get the 1% figure from that scientific data says are in real danger? If only 1% of the Scottish Adult Population were most at risk from this, why did the JCVI come up with a list of 9 Cohorts, that by my best estimate contains nearly 3m of a population of 4.5m?

Will it go away or not? Well the message on that just now is we will have to live with this for a number of years, but there is some good news being gathered that the current vaccines are reducing transmission, and if lockdown and future restrictions try to eliminate this virus, maybe we wont be subjected to any restrictions 2-3 weeks after the last vaccine has been administered.
