My third choice wasn't even the favourite.

Let's not split hairs pal and keep it simple. If you fancy a favourite then back it but don't expect them to win all the time
Reminds me of the poster oneaday on here who set out with 100 quid and was going to see how long it took him to double it by only betting on 'certs'. He picked different sports each days and I remember sometimes he bet on tennis matches where the odds were very short e.g. on Federer to beat Ima Nobody 10/1 on. I think a couple of weeks into the experiment he'd lost his 100

He was called one_a_day, don't know who he was but he did also post on football for a while.

Looks like he went off to Banter. Not been on here for a couple of years.

I worked with a bloke at pit, who was a gambler, used to give one of mates bets to put on for him, at the local bookies, but backed at £100 a race, but bookie stopped taking the bets, because he could not lay it off.
So with me living near Ladbrokes bookies in Mexborough, & finishing early on days, he asked me to put the bets on, I'm talking 1985 onwards, some days especially on the big meetings, like Royal Ascot, he would give me £600 to put on Lester Piggott mounts on 6 races.
He retired in 1986-87, took his redundancy, I was told a few years later that he lost his redundancy money on backing race horses.

Today’s first winner in the bag!

    Bob Olinger with a £10 bet returned £28.75 😁

    Second one a winner!

13.55pm Monkfish not a big win by any means but, still a winner making it 2/2.

    One more to go.

Good job bookies aren't open! I won't have an account. Irish have took over here, they throw plenty of money at it. Getting their returns.
