Effing budgies - a relative of mine years ago had one and would often let it out the cage so it could fly around the living room which it generally was when i visited. It was always wanting to land on your shoulder. Cant stand things flying round me head.
Anything from the Chinese Wet markets.
Iv'e worked in lofts with Bats. Wouldn't like to be near them now.
I had an Eagle fly at me ( the workers called him Eddy) when iIwas cabling on ladders in a warehouse.
Bears are awesome creatures, somewhat dangerous, though! On holiday in Canada some years ago, my wife and I were photographing a glacier, standing on top of a small bank and out of the bushes below strolled a grizzly bear. It just stayed at the foot of the bank for a while munching dandelions; when it started up the bank we went back to our car sharpish! It was amazing, though, to be able to watch such an animal in the wild, a really beautiful animal. It’s claws were like knives, I think that it would shred a human rather quickly. The trouble is that humans are forever encroaching on the bears habitat. We were so lucky to see that bear; it is quite rare to see a grizzly close up, plenty of black bears about but grizzlies, not so.
As for animals that I don’t care for, cats. Big cats in safari parks are wonderful to observe but domestic cats, not for me, wretched creatures always want to sink their claws into you. Also, I object to other people’s animals wandering through, and crapping in, my garden. If you can’t control your pets, don’t have them. That’s my rant!
Cats are amazing creatures.
I lost one of my old cats a few months ago, a more loyal pet it would be impossible to find.
My remaining cat Chloe is nearly 14, she goes out for hours on end in the summer and wanders for a distance into the fields by us.
Sometimes if I have to call her in at night I see her eyes in my flashlight a few hundred yards up the 60mph stretch of road ( with no footpath ) I live on and she sticks right to the edge for safety.
I see her crossing the road to go into the fields opposite us, she never takes chances.
Just brilliant little creatures who don’t need walking around on leads, low maintenance compared to dogs.
They only ever dump in soft ground ( not in the middle of your lawn or in the footpath like a dog and they always cover it up.......I never understand why people get so sniffy about cats in their garden, you actually have to go hunting for their s h I t but whatever turns you on I guess.
As for scratching, my pair never scratched or lashed out at anyone, they’ve even been fine with my little grandchildren.
I’d never be without a cat.
Sorry Mick but in our experience I have to disagree as those points are things of urban legend.
There are loads of cats by us. They sh it wherever they want; soft ground, open soil, in the grass (occasionally covered), on block paving and gravel.
I only ever go looking for their presents so I don't step on them, splat and smear them with the flymo or to avoid brown facial speckles courtesy of the strimmer.
Psychotic, personality free bird killing machines loyal to the next person who feeds them in my experience.
They're as cute as the clap and the only thing they've got going for them is a taste for killing rats and mice.
That and they bring the wife out in a rash. Much as she loves them they really don't agree with her which means we aren't owned by any.
The strange thing is they always seem attracted to me. Kindred spirits perhaps 😉 .
I could not have put it more accurately myself. I would never harm a cat, we have had many cats before having a dog but taking on a dog that was not wanted by a neighbor changed all that. Having a dog keeps you fit as they have to be walked and they are so attentive. Another plus is I doubt anyone unwelcome would get in the house, if you know what I mean, though our current one, like the last one, would probably kill them with excitement and love. (I know I said a couple of years ago after losing our so loved 13 year old boxer I couldn’t do it again, well I did, a red boxer this time. There is a long story of how we got him, unusual in a few ways, perhaps a story for another time) We have had many times been gardening and have plunged our hands into a cat dump and god it stinks and you can’t get rid of the smell on you hand etc. easily. The fact cats sometimes bury their poo is perhaps worse than if they didn’t.
A dog does not go into other people gardens to take a poo unlike cats, as humans don’t, well most don’t I guess.
Back to topic. I guess the one creature I dislike is a rat. They don’t really scare me I just dislike them due to their urinary habit which spreads disease.
Thing is, many animals are better than many humans.
Sharks for me. The thought of swimming about and being attacked by one of these things fills me with dread. I can't believe people mess about in the sea where there are known to have been shark attacks. You get interviews with people who have had a close encounter with one and survived and they say after they recovered they are back out in the surf again. They must be bloody mad.
