The thing is though that we can’t just be kept at home indefinitely. Everybody is thinking that ‘when this is finished I can’t wait to fly away’. The problem is that the longer this keeps going on that there will be nobody TO fly you away because they’ll have all gone bust. The solution is not to stay at home but to ensure that proper processes are in place to allow safe travel i.e. ensure that every traveller has a negative Covid test within 72 hrs of travelling or be vaccinated. Stay at home was fine 12 months ago and critically did not take place, for which whoever took those decisions (i.e. Boris) will ultimately face a reckoning. But that ship has long sailed and now we are in the Covid era, instead facilities have to be implemented to allow things to re-start safely, otherwise this will just keep going on and on and on and on..........

I actually do agree with the spirit of your post, but its more than likely just now that i wont be getting my second jab until August, and i am taking my own decision to stay within my own country, with a couple of cross border skirmishes doon sooth. I keep hearing a statement that "we are not safe until everyone is safe" and because of the entitled muppets amongst us that have caused 4 outbreaks around our area, vaccination is the only way we to get everyone safe. Essentially, the only foreign destination available to us is Gibraltar which has vaccinated all its adult population.
Basically, if everyone spends their normal holiday budget in this country for the next year, that should give us a good foundation to stabilize our economy for coming out of this Covid era.
