How many players from the youth system have gone on to make a decent career for themselves this century?

McNaughton,Fraser,Jack I suppose and maybe McKenna.Considine has hung around here like a turd that won’t flush.

The rest have drifted out of the game before they were 30.

To improve Aberdeen FC you need to show ambition. If you are not ambitious you will accept defeat easily. Milne represented Aberdeen for years and he had no ambition for the club and kept his money in his pocket. Cormack has been different as he has splashed some cash. He needs to sign a manager who can give everyone a lift and someone who is very ambitious.
The club football wise needs a right kick up the @rse. We need to address our squad with players who have a real desire to drive themselves to be the best they can be. Our current squad looks too comfortable for my liking. They show no drive whatsoever.

We have been a mess of club since Stewart Milne walked in the door, he had 25 years to turn it around and never did,his legacy still lives on.
I have nothing positive to say about Milne. He has been the main instigator of making our club a laughing stock bailed out by a couple of committed die hard fans with a bit of money otherwise we would be in even deeper trouble. Cormack is the man now though and it is up to him to turn it around. Worldly events have sabotaged the difference he might have made but everyone is in the same boat so it can't really be used as an excuse for our continuing mess.

Everything at the footballing side of the club reminds me when Jimmy C left in 2009. A **** squad with not a great deal of youth coming through with everything just feeling so flat around the club.

Just watched the highlights, if you can call them that. It was a good goal from a Utd point of view, but soft from us and of course it had to be the young lad making his debut that was mainly at fault for it.

As for our youth system I don't know how good it is, but I really don't see the harm in going with mainly youth for the rest of the season. The first picks have had more than enough chances to prove themselves and let us down.

Don't know why anybody expected anything different on the park yesterday, as Sheerin and Robson have a been just as guilty as McHunnis and Doc and have been a big part of the problem.
Fkn huge job ahead for the new manager that comes in, on current form last 12 games or so we should deservedly be in a relegation dog fight, fkn pitiful.

I saw some differences from the start . Sheerin picked a kid at Right Back. And then brought on a 17 yr old when game was over , for a little experience. Normal stuff really, but not what Deek did.

He also picked a 4 at the back. Sort of. To allow the "wingers " t o play up front. And picked a 3 man midfied . In the first half Dean Campbell looked like a reall proper attacking midfielder ?

All these, at this time of the season , are tiny forward steps. But they are the things Deek should have enacted after we lost Watkins. And before he threw Cosgrove back in ?

I also suspect that Sheerin would have kept Anderson in January , and he would have got a lot more game time, in a 4 3 3 system. ( Which I think was what Sheerin played ?? !! )

I suspect it`s a bit too late for anything much to effectively change for the good this season. ?

But we all probably agree, some more of youngsters should have been brought through a bittie more already.

Big Big problem for a new manager. Depends who he knows he could sign. Depends how much he can rely on the judgement of Sheerin/Robson/Simpson.

Lot of " youngsters " are now 20 something. And could have been brought further on. The 4 or 5 who were out on loan should be readfy for first team games by now. And I suspect Sheerin will ( imstructed ? ) to play them from now on, to assess for next season. ?

Although , without a new manager in place. It`s all very uncertain .

That's not a bad list to be fair. Considering the youth system had to be ripped up a few years back.

There are issues though. The players up there are generally softer and everyone thought it was funny when I mentioned what happened when St Mirren youth team were up a couple of seasons ago.

EDIT - I should say that it's not a bad list for being ****. The youth team does need to be where we base the future of the club and Scottish football on. Being fit and strong shouldn't be difficult for a start. Passing the ball infront of the player would be a nice thing to teach them as well.

Might be being a bit unfair to Sheerin and Robson but I doubt they are a couple of trailblazers. More like moulds of the usual suspects.

After watching the highlights again good lord we really need to get better defenders than we have.

If a 34 year old Andy Considine is playing in defence next season we will be in a relegation battle.

After 554 games for the club he still manages to get dragged out of position like he has just had a handful of first team games.
