This was as a result of four unexplained cases with no known source. We had nearly 600 cases in the first two/three weeks and one fatality and this from just one person not isolating. The Isle of Man have nearly 900 cases all from one source, a ferry worker.

Our second lockdown lasted eight weeks and we have exited today having eased through phases 1 and 2 We are now in phase three (we have different grading/phases to UK model, stricter I believe) whereby we are basically back to normal, pubs, clubs, restaurants, gyms etc. are all open, no face masks, no social distancing.

They have opened up some air routes with certain isolation restrictions in place. We are very very lucky that we are small and have a population that accepted the restrictions and abided by the rules. I will expect we will have to go into a third lockdown at some point because like this latest occasion, some selfish, undisciplined self centered moron could not abide by the rules that were in place.

My point is this, if one person can cause islands with populations of 62,000 (Guernsey) and 84,000 (Isle of Man) to have a spread of this virus imagine the effect on the larger scale, UK, France etc, when so many fail to follow the government guidelines.

Anyone who believes that all the worlds governments are colluding to suppress the people are delusional. Globally governments can’t agree on the shape of vegetables.
The vaccines are suppressing hospital admissions and deaths by 90% even in the over 80’s.

Who the f u c k are we trying to save?

I don’t like professional protesters like we saw in Bristol but I’m fast becoming one of a growing number of the “F u c k This” brigade and if restrictions are not lifted in June then I’m likely to get arrested at some point.

Who and what are we trying to “Save”.....can someone please help me here?????

Got to say - I agree!!! Businesses need to be back open otherwise they will all go bust! Why don’t those who have retired stay safe and stay in? More over 65’s at the tip yesterday dawdling than anyone younger - I thought we had a virus?

The business wheels need to start turning....... From the end of May - I will be on legitimate business trips to Dubai - well the meeting is business!!!

People have had enough now!! If you are bothered or frightened still of the virus then stay at home as the younger generation need to resume education and business!

There will be more cases of mental health issues soon than Covid!

That’s exactly my thoughts Mick. Also, how sustainable is this locking down process? How long do they think we can go on for? Everyone will have a different opinion on this, one example is this - all gyms got shutdown despite the clear evidence suggesting transmissions from these places to be very low. Hairdressers and salons in Wales opened but you can’t go and mingle with others indoors. Yes there are those selfish morons, but as stated if one person causing such a huge problem for those islands to shut.. then really we will never have a way out. So then what are these vaccines about? What are we protecting?

Not saving all people who will get mentally ill, committing suicide, a young generation going down the drain etc, etc because of draconian measures, that’s for sure. ”Corona tunnel vision” is prevalent alas, one would hope for those in charge of public health to take a measured approach of, yes, the public health of the whole society. The repercussions will be here for decades...

We have been out once a week for click and collect and that's all we have done.
Doctor sent me a letter at the ist lock down advising me to shield for being at risk.
So we have followed all the rules.
It's drove me up the wall.

I have never underestimated the down side of lockdowns. My point is and always has been that no country has done it properly because there are so many members of society that do not adhere to what is put in place to protect everyone. It has been successful here due to size and mostly a caring community led by really good government and an exceptional Medical Officer of Health (South African not local).

We were forced into a second lockdown because of one person coming into the island and not adhering to what was in place locally.

In an effort to show my understanding of the issues of both mental and physical health, and it is something I would never usually do on an open forum, I will share this. I have had a scare with my health in the last few weeks. I have been given the all clear re all the serious things that could have caused it and I feel fit but will require further visits to the Doctor to seek a remedy (at £66.00 a visit, we have no NHS over here). I have also been put on medication as I have since late last year had a flash back to something that caused serious distress 23 years ago. Of course the Doc thought this was as a result of lockdown, and was only to happy to make that the cause. I insisted that it was as a result of something that happened in October last year that took me to back 23 years when I was the victim of something I had no control over.

So I do have understanding, alas people commit suicide in and out of pandemics, I have witnessed the aftermath of quite a few, so I am well aware of how and why it happens.

So for clarity I am not in favor of lockdown after lockdown. One is enough if everyone did it properly. So far no nation has achieved this.

I am lucky I have a loving and understanding wife who is very patient.

    I repeat my questions,

1: Who are we trying to save once 80% plus of the population who want an injection have had one?

2: Is it only Covid we are no longer allowed to die from?

I think, alas, that it (”a proper lockdown”) is not possible to do properly in countries without too dangerous and negative side effects. Yes, small, confined societies as yours, and dictatorships of course (because they don’t care about negative side effects), but not for others. One small proper, even perfectly executed, will not suffice in ”real countries” (no disrespect), you will have to have a second, and third etc, and there you have it, a vicious circle.

I have never said to not take Corona seriously, or that it is ”something made up”, it’s not, should be taken seriously, and many measures and steps should be taken, but, not the draconian ones (because they do more damage than good).Let’s save them for, for instance, ”a pandemic of raging ebola on the loose”, which I, of course, sincerly hope never will come true.

A friend of mine topped himself last year, did Corona measures play a part, well, we’ll never know, will we?

The above, as always, my belief and opinion.

I really hope that your health issues are sorted out and that you’re on the mend asap.

2 developments tonight - it will now be illegal to go abroad on holiday from next Monday and all care home staff are to face compulsory covid vaccination. Mandatory vaccinations have now come one step closer
