There's nothing left to play for this season really - even if a new manager comes in now, we're not getting anywhere near winning the Scottish cup with that bunch of players. We'll be in a fight to hold on to 4th place but I can't see Livi getting enough points to overtake us. The new manager won't need many games to work out how terrible most of the squad is, so the only real advantage of getting someone in sooner rather than later is that they can start making a list of signing targets. You'd imagine the guys who are applying for the job will have a fair idea of that already anyway.
The disadvantage of bringing someone in right now is they have to work with these awful players, most of whom won't be here next season, and probably start their managerial tenure with a few defeats. A new manager would probably rather just hang on til the last couple of games in the season before taking over I would've thought. That might be on Cormack's mind too. If the new guy comes in and loses his first 6 games in charge because the players are hopeless it doesnt inspire confidence in the fans for the new season.
