New manager

There's nothing left to play for this season really - even if a new manager comes in now, we're not getting anywhere near winning the Scottish cup with that bunch of players. We'll be in a fight to hold on to 4th place but I can't see Livi getting enough points to overtake us. The new manager won't need many games to work out how terrible most of the squad is, so the only real advantage of getting someone in sooner rather than later is that they can start making a list of signing targets. You'd imagine the guys who are applying for the job will have a fair idea of that already anyway.

The disadvantage of bringing someone in right now is they have to work with these awful players, most of whom won't be here next season, and probably start their managerial tenure with a few defeats. A new manager would probably rather just hang on til the last couple of games in the season before taking over I would've thought. That might be on Cormack's mind too. If the new guy comes in and loses his first 6 games in charge because the players are hopeless it doesnt inspire confidence in the fans for the new season.

I think McInnes really did benefit from managing for the last few games of the season and was able to assess the squad for the next season, so I think it would be a bonus if we got someone in before the end of the season. FFS 3 seasons in one sentence, back to school min

I don’t know the answer to that FtH. Maybe they want to make sure Brown’s on board before they announce it? To be cynical I wouldn’t be surprised if the delay is to give the impression they are considering all the applications and options. I hope I’m wrong but I still think it was decided long ago!

I’m a bit worried by the delay, I would have expected some sort of unveiling today.

It’s going to be Glass but I’m really worried that the delay means we are trying to get Scott Brown as assistant.

Scott Brown is on the verge of agreeing a deal to move to Aberdeen this week where he will become Stephen Glass’ No.2.

The Celtic skipper held talks with Pittodrie chairman Dave Cormack and he and former Hibs team mate Glass are expected to be confirmed in the next 48 hours.

That’s the bit I don’t get, he’s got some PR job on to get fans onside, and excited, about this. There was a chance here to do something that could reinvigorate the fanbase and get us excited again. Are we really meant to believe that they considered all applications, and potential approaches, and realised Stephen Glass was the ideal man, ahead of it being an Atlanta stitch up job which has been planned for some time? Pretty underwhelming regardless if it’s true.
