The government have been asked by the big players in the industry to look at this. That's all, so far. They fear, rightly, litigation, down the road. However, the 5% or so that haven't and won't have the jab, will have to be replaced, and it's not at all clear to me how they are going to do this. My thoughts are that they will use the Corporate Governance legislation about Duty of Care, and require companies to include an update to their Terms of Employment. This will give breathing space, and not have the government in the frame for any fallout
Why mandatory if it works?? - you take it twice surely you are immune- if you believe that .
They will have to update it annually like the flu jab which is only 50% effective- it mutates like all virusses
When they can show that it works to stop virus infecting you stop it spreading with no long term effects and they agree we can get back to a real not a new normal then I'll consider it. Happy to not travel home or abroad stay home til then
But at the mo take the jab and keep lockdowned- that is authoritarian tyranny.
A democratic country is one where the people have the right to choose.
You could also claim that a democratic country is one where the electorate choose a government to act and make decisions on their behalf. You are always going to get individuals who don't agree with certain decisions but in a democracy you have to accept the will of the majority.
A government that mandates the use of a vaccine before they work in an environment of vulnerable people is regarded as tyranny....I'm sure a few countries that actually live in tyranny would have a right laugh at that.
Hospital staff can't work in certain areas without MMR, TB, Hep B vaccinations...what's tyrannical about adding one more to that list?
My wife is a doctor and there is a long list of mandatory vaccines that health care workers already have to take before they are allowed to work so adding covid not only makes a lot of sense, its also just one more on the list. As for the rest of society, a covid vaccine is not going to hurt you but the lack of one may kill you or kill someone close to you. So why wouldn't you take it?? You are already full of any number of vaccines that have protected you against lots of nasty diseases - e.g. you don't ever want diphtheria, polio, whooping cough, tetanus or tuberculosis - and the fact you have never had them is because of the vaccines that were "forced" on you in school. So was the government trying to take away your liberty by vaccinating you or was it trying to protect you? I dotn necessarily trust the government on a lot of issues but the paranoia I am seeing over covid vaccines is about the stupidest behaviour I have ever seen from otherwise sensible people. So suck it up and get the covid vaccine. You have nothing to lose but your life (or your reputation as a sensible person).
