    Spectator magazine had very good article on how taxation rates would likely go in Scotland....income tax 26%, vat around 40- 45%..... but as trodee says what happened in Cyprus or a wealth tax is even scarier.....although I still think a wealth tax will happen in the UK anyway.

    I think our std of living would drop pretty dramatically, pretty quickly.

    It's all relative, I could get pished on a fiver when I started my first job in 1989 on 10k a year. I'm surprised someone so in love with Sweden is so aghast at the thought of higher taxation?

    How does New Zealand manage to not have super-high taxes, genuinely interested in your thinking there.
