All I can add to this conversaion now is 'COME ON BOREHAM WOOD!'.
Not something I ever expected to be saying in this lifetime.
This team is utterly flawed on so many levels I don't know where to begin. I think half of them have one eye on their contract being up and think they are good enough for a league club to come in!!! - yeah, good luck with that one!!
Yes we all knew that this season we should have gone up a level to be the ones to hit the ground running. Some people say you can't judge a team straight away but it has transpired that the warning signs that were there then and in the pre-season game against York that we have a knack of making other teams look more 'up for it' or we allow them to grow into the game or play their game instead of imposing our game and style on them throughout.
Dover should have been a Bradford 5-0 at home in the Munto season if we were going to be the real deal and serious title challenges this season.
I posted something to that effect during the game. Wootton has been poor for a while but it's often blamed on him feeding off scraps, which is a fair observation. However, too many times he gets decent service and his touch is terrible, tonight being a case in point. When we lost at home to Chesterfield, their forward, Asante (?) made it look like the ball was covered in glue, meaning they always had an out ball and we couldn't sustain any pressure. We've not done that at all.
One of my biggest concerns as the season has gone on is our failure to make the ball stick up the top and win second balls. The result being we're nearly always on the back foot. The forwards have to improve their ability to hold the ball.
Knowles is another culprit for giving the ball away too cheaply. Again, gets decent balls into feet and first touch is dreadful - under no pressure.
Groundhog day, swapped one loser for another. Put the club up for sale, these Danes are as clueless as Ardley and Burchall
How many times this season have players consistently won their individual battles? Not often. We’ve signed way too many lightweight players for this league, having failed to see the need to replace Mitch Rose. Yes, we have been unlucky to lose Cal and Wes Thomas, and we’ve missed the latter’s presence up front, but we’ve had plenty of time to sort out a replacement for him but failed to do so.
I’ve said all season that we’re inferior to last season, and I’ll be amazed if we go up via the playoffs. Right now, though, I’m starting to doubt we’ll even finish in the top seven. We need to stop bringing a tutu to a gun fight.
