Wootton gets an easy ride with fans, but haven't we seen a multitude of sub-par performances from him this season? So we cede all advantage and momentum to them and then we stop having a solid base, Rawlo and Ellis get really edgy and start making mistakes...but the problems start with those 4 players ahead of Reeves IMO
I posted something to that effect during the game. Wootton has been poor for a while but it's often blamed on him feeding off scraps, which is a fair observation. However, too many times he gets decent service and his touch is terrible, tonight being a case in point. When we lost at home to Chesterfield, their forward, Asante (?) made it look like the ball was covered in glue, meaning they always had an out ball and we couldn't sustain any pressure. We've not done that at all.

One of my biggest concerns as the season has gone on is our failure to make the ball stick up the top and win second balls. The result being we're nearly always on the back foot. The forwards have to improve their ability to hold the ball.

Knowles is another culprit for giving the ball away too cheaply. Again, gets decent balls into feet and first touch is dreadful - under no pressure.
