The whole thing will flop fairly quickly and they will come back begging to be let back in the league. start them off in League II with salary limitations equal to the highest payroll of the years previous year. No TV rights.

make the stipulations known now. Make them sign off on it.
Not "crazy talk" in any context. If the authorities attempt to expel them, the ESL clubs will (of course), resort to legal moves of their own (there are already precedents in European basketball and ice skating that support the kind of thing the ESL is proposing). Whilst that runs its course (potentially for years), the ESL would continue with those clubs fielding substantially weaker teams in a devalued PL and Champions League competition, something the other PL clubs have already flagged up. For as long as that continues, in addition to the rights deal the ESL will establush (rumoured already to be ready to be signed off), the current monies paid by Sky etc will be sucked out of the game we know in order to further line the pockets of the ESL owners (Real Madrid chairman has already said as much), and as a consequence EVERY club in EVERY league will suffer and some (maybe most), simply won't survive.

Better to ban players and clubs from any competition under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA, (much more practicable and much less legally challenging), making it unattractive for the players to be part of the ESL, not only because they would be inable to play for their country, but also their clubs would be unable to field any players associated with ESL games. Without the stars, the ESL transforms into a damp squib.

hard to get more more definitive than the FA expelling them.

at that point is turns into a legal "sword fight". I think the FA has a much larger "sword" than the 6 clubs.

if my understanding of brexit is correct the court on this matter will be an English court and not some flunky court out of brussels. I suspect that the FA's injunction would be immediate and absolute which means that the 6 clubs will get no prem money, no champions league money and no TV money.

Guess who wins if that's the case and they have to go it alone on the 6 billion loan from JP Morgan.

Bend them over and break it off and let the rest of the world enjoy it.

FWIW, this is a world wide event. even the local sports shows in Indianapolis are covering it. I've seen articles in the Wall Street Journal and national shows are talking about it as well. it's not just limited to Europe.
