I agree with you totally Driller. Oh for the days when Masson took the free kicks and corners, and Needham, Stubbs and Bradd were waiting to put the ball in the net.

I'm sure that can be coached out of him, forward minded intent is an alien concept at this club.

I can imagine the instruction - "Lateralmente ou para trás Rúben, lateralmente ou para trás".

If you're not as fluent as I am in Portuguese, you can probably work it out without needing google translate!

Those were the days when if we won a corner, we had genuine expectation of a goal. Now when we win a corner, we think it won't beat the first man and the opposition will hit us on the break.

There is still hope if you look where Luton are now and Oxford (who were one game away from going back into the 2nd tier last season). Those two clubs - along with Notts - being the only ex-top flight club since the war to play at this level.

Luton Town's 5 year record at this level.
    2009/10 - 2nd/24
    2010/11 - 3rd/24 lost play off final
    2011/12 - 5th/24 lost play off final
    2012/13 - 7th/24
    2013/14 - 1st/24 Promoted as Champions

Oxford United's 4 year run in tier 5
    2006/07 - 2nd/24
    2007/08 - 9th/24
    2008/09 - 7th/24
2009/10 - 3rd/24 Won the play off final

Neither of them finished lower than 9th though.

Burchnall may well be the worst manager to ever sit in a dugout, that doesn’t mean Ardley was any good. And those wanting Ardley sacked(including me) didn’t get a say on his replacement.
    The fans never do.

On the many threads demanding for NA to be sacked it was amazing how quiet those vocal supporters went when asked who they would replace him with if in charge. Finally after quiet a few attempts one generous poster produced an excellent list and we got the ball rolling with some names. Safe to say IB wasn't suggested.

As I said before easy to fire a manager, harder to hire.

It is indeed. We've been down that route before.
