The only reason I would word the statement from the owners that blandly/flatly is if I thought there was a decent chance the whole thing would end up in court.

I'm just trying to be fair and balanced, not blaming anybody. You don't have any more idea what was said than anybody else. Might have been a religious angle to it, who knows. It's not fair to assume it's racist when we've got no idea.
So what if they did like him. I can't see any reason why you would refer to younger players And their sensitivities.

And I hope you are not suggesting that I have in any way suggested this was a racist incident.

Apparently it was after Altrincham scored, allegedl Ross shouted ' Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee Donkey!'.
Ben Turner thought the last bit was reference to him so he made a complaint!

“During Saturday’s match at Altrincham, I made an ill-judged comment to a member of our playing staff which has led to my departure from the club...
I deeply regret the comment, which is not a reflection of the type of person I am, and would like to place on record my apologies to the player in question for the upset I have caused.”
While it was said in the heat of the moment with no malice intended, it was nevertheless unacceptable and I'm devastated by the impact it's caused.”
would also like to apologise to the club’s board of directors, supporters & Ian Burchnall, all of whom I have enjoyed working with immensely. The club have handled today’s events impeccably and everyone at Meadow Lane has my full support for the rest of the season and beyond.”
And here in a nutshell is the reason why we are struggling to stamp our authority in this league !
No backbone or balls and gets upset when called a name.
I bet he had to leave the Mercedes in the club car park as he couldn't drive home for tears in his eyes !
The opposition will have a field day when they find out who gets upset at being called names and runs off to mummy !
instead of having a pair of oblloxs and giving it back he decides to squeal like a pig ?
I bet it was Covids fault hey MM

    Article in Glasgow Evening Times.

Maurice Ross has left his role as assistant manager at Notts County after less than two months.

The former Motherwell coach and Rangers player departs the club as they sit 10th in the Conference Premier League.

The club posted on their club website, confirming Ross had left. A short statement read: "Assistant head coach Maurice Ross has this afternoon left the club with immediate effect.

"We will be making no further comment."

It has been reported that Ross was sacked by the club after making an 'ill-judged' comment to a player.

The Daily Record report Ross as apologising for the comment. He said: "During Saturday’s match at Altrincham, I made an ill-judged comment to a member of our playing staff which has led to my departure from the club.

"I deeply regret the comment, which is not a reflection of the type of person I am, and would like to place on record my apologies to the player in question for the upset I have caused. "I will be taking some time to reflect on my actions and learn from this experience before continuing my coaching journey."

Manager calls player into his office - "There's been a formal complaint lodged against you that you insulted someone, what did you say?"

"Well gaffer, after I went into that tackle with him that broke his leg he started to cry and I called him a ****ing mardy wuss".

"That's not on" replied the manager, "you're fired".

A quote from Lukaku who's done wonders for Inter Milan

Lukaku has previously credited Conte's motivational strategies as a factor in his improvement.

"I remember one of my first Champions League games against Slavia Prague, when I played really bad," he said.

"In front of the whole team, he told me that I was really trash and that he would take me off after five minutes if I did it again.

"And we played the Milan derby just after that and I played one of my best games of the season. He stepped on my confidence, but it woke me up at the same time."

Wow. Given that MR has come out with a statement and has taken responsibility for whatever was said would suggest it isn’t simply name calling. If it was a case of someone being over sensitive wouldn’t MR have said something along the lines of
‘I said something, I don’t agree with the decision by Notts and will aim to clear my name in court’?
Although I agree that society is generally over sensitive and we have to be really careful what we say, write or type. It doesn’t condone if something was said with any discriminatory words(speculation of course in this case).
You should read the article about a footballer who quit at half time in Scotland when apparently an opponent said ‘’you should have done it right the first time’ - now their is nothing bad in that in isolation, BUT the player it was aimed at has attempted to take his own life on several occasions.
The whole situation is sad and I am sure at some point more information will be released.

Yes it is, and when/if this info gets out it could be that the words are only moderately shocking, which will tell us that Maurice was in quite a weak position (in relation to the squad/ IB/ staff in general?) and there's something of a pretext around this whole thing - otherwise there would be more effort to repair whatever problem it was.
Anyway, we're all left speculating without the details.

Maybe the Reedtz Bros made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
