Having lived in Bacup and schooled and worked in Burnley there's not much difference between the folks except in Bacup we pronounce bus as buzz. We're all Dingles.

I lived in Bacup for a while Chris, long time ago now, nowt wrong with Bacup folk, salt of the earth for the most part. Had some good nights in the British Queen, but it was as well to keep your wits about you, there were one or two lads you didn't want to get the wrong side of. And besides the buzzes, there were churry trees flowering around this time as well.
Be very wary of the Coconut dancers in Bacup.lol
.
Bacup swimming baths....that high diving board, they blew a whistle to clear the pool area below , anyone here do it ?
I've done it, before it was eventually removed for safety reasons, the pool was only 6 feet deep so you had to do a quick flip under water. They even had a springboard too but that was removed before the highboard.
I drank in all the Bacup pubs and the BQ was one of the iffy ones, along with the Joiners in the early 70's. We may have been in the pub at the same time sinkov.
My Mum's from Rochdale Road and my grandparents lived there all their life.Used to go in the tripe shop with my grandad.Went on very exotic holidays from there on Yelloway coaches - Blackpool one day, then Fleetwood, then Morecambe or Southport and then the big one-the Lake District.Always stopped at the five barred gate for chips.
Bloody hell barrie, that brings back some memories. We used to have one week away (Rhyl or Llandudno for example) and then one week of "days out" which was exactly how you describe. The Yellow Way coach stopped outside St. Johns' Church in Baxenden, we'd all hop on (pre-booked of course!) and my nan never told us where we were going until we got there.
