Thread: Burnley v Liverpool Match Preview

  1. #21
Another 93 minutes of dross. We really are lacking any creativity or quality in so many areas it is painful to watch. This squad needs a complete overhaul. There were 7 or 8 players on our team that are not PL quality by a country mile.We cannot string 3 passes together in the final third.

Scoring seems to have been our problem all season, with 33 goals scored only Fulham and Sheffield United have scored less. I would have liked to see Wood & Vydra start for us tonight especially seeing how Liverpool were exposed by West Brom with balls over their back line. We also exposed this weakness but were unable to take any advantage.

bringing Vydra on for the remaining 10 mins.....putting a rookie in goal, no JRod....more hoof ball, and good chances wasted....but it all helped the reds jump to an automatic CL place....

I assume Dyche had written this off, which is defeatist (look at Brighton and City) and was saving his "best" players though god knows what for. With a more attacking team we could have won this.

has to be evened up - kriti....if you were Lester, you'd want Spurs to send their players on a night out with Barnes before the match, and Palace to go full Alien !

Your right CIB we’re so lacking in many areas , I still think most a lot to do with our shape and set up and the fact we’re slower than slow.

It’s a catch 22 in some ways as I’d like Dyche to be able to change to that formation if we’re overrun centrally or go in front etc.

Last night we started with it and couldn’t get the midfield to support wood quick enough and when they do set off and go to do it they can’t get back when the opposition breaks - so the back 4 is under pressure and scrutiny for big chunks of matches.

If you add to that players switching off letting runners go beyond them , and deliver tame ball into the box , lastly and we’ve said it many times if you can’t touch a man your not marking him ( Mee 2nd goals a shocker for centre back to concede )

Top and bottom is anyone who has pace and movement will find us out eventually and in this league they don’t miss many chances.

I hate to single people out but Cork is lost centre mid ( the most critical position on the pitch ) .

We’ve been lacking in that position for many years that I’ve been going.

The rebuild is on I’m not sure Dyche is doing it , our real problem is finding players that fit the budget to play and compete with the elite, and installing them into a team in the next 3 months or so to go again.

Somethings gotta give - it could be Dyche

Wood missed an absolute sitter, Cork fails to track his runner, Norris obviously can't save for Christmas, otherwise we would have gone in 1-0 up instead of 1-0 down at half time.

I have said a thousand times before Gudmundsson is not physically strong enough for the EPL, otherwise Mane would not have squeezed the ball in for their second goal.

Fine margins and 3-0 flattered Liverpool, but the need for reinforcements in certain positions is strong.

For all the analysis, ifs and buts, swop keepers and we win that game. Simple as that.
