There's a good honest, fair minded, hardworking human being in there, I doubt few of us would dispute that. But given the circumstances we found ourselves in, a few of us thought he was a poor fit for Notts at that particular moment in time. Sadly, we were proven right. That doesn't mean that we all don't wish him well and hope his career prospers, of course we do.

Our issue has been poor ownership, a long list of chancers taking us over promising us the promise land. I get u don’t like/rate him, I did like him, I do believe he gave a sh1t about our club and took it to his heart, maybe his career will pitter away but personally I believe there’s a very good manager in there and I wish him well.
I think that the only reason you and other people think there is a good manager in there is because he is ultimately a very likeable character. However whatever way you look at it his managerial record is not very good.

Nice words Gump, I echo those sentiments.

I never met the bloke personally but was clearly committed, genuine , professional and a nice guy. Wish him well in the future but now he's left Meadow Lane he's just another ex-Notts manager I don't really care.

There have been plenty, too many.

What matrices are you using to define success? NA was a very decent bloke and some should accept that had he walked straight after our relegation we would have been right up **** street. No owners, no players and no manager. Not many of the anti Ardley crew even acknowledge that. NA helped to steady the ship at some of our worst times.

I like him, but don't rate him in a managerial sense. It might not reflect well on me as a person, but as a Notts fan I would much rather have a nasty b@stard (think Steve Evans) get us promoted rather than a nice chap like Ardley get us relegated.

I see there is a lot of whether Ardley was good or bad raising its ugly head again and how he had his hands tied and was in an impossible situation to save the club from relegation because the players weren't getting paid and managers had been sacked and the owner was very dodgy ( not a mention about cocks out in the bath yet though).
Anyway I think I have the solution for Barrow , why don't they go and get Sol Campbell , he had most of the obstacles that have been mentioned but he managed to save his team from relegation, surely he must be a worth a punt.

This is only a guess, but I also think Sol's 'bathtub pic slip' would probably have been more impressive than "big" Al's.

I think it depends on the ambient temperature of the bath water. On first viewing on Big AL's photo it seemed his bath water and surrounding areas had dipped to around - 10

All water under the bridge. let's see if the current incumbent is any more successful ( difficult to be less!)

The matrices used to define the success of every single manager. How many games they won and what trophies they won. I am not suggesting he wasn't a decent bloke he came across as a very likable character. He didn't strutt his stuff on the pitch though and that's what counts at the end of the day. I am not anti Ardley as such, I was pro Ardley for some time but I gave up with him this season. He had long enough and ultimately had about 3 squads and could not get the required level of performance and results so he got sacked. That's all there is to it and that's football!
