I wasn't given specific names, just that nobody had been ruled out and there were people interested who hadn't been mentioned.

So really it looks like mellon was offski anyway this was clearly arranged and may well have been accepted by Tony. He wasnt happy but he did a job and wish him well would be good for him to meet our supporters one day.

The hope had been to have courts in a few years time but given the nature Tony leaks possibility to test water. Stormy water turns into expanding ideas. All the outrage turns to euphoria - if Tony manages that youve got to take your hat off to him.

Not sure it was leaked by Tony, but enough people knew the long term plan at the club that it was going to get out when Mellon left.

From what I heard, United not being happy with Mellon (well the performances on the pitch, the results they were very satisfied with) and him being unsettled and wanting to leave were two independent things, but United were very happy when Micky came to them asking about going back to Tranmere, as I think the pay off for sacking him was £80-100k

I also think this. The longer it goes on, the less likely we're gonna appoint Courts and we'll go for someone completely leftfield like Mellon.

I put a fiver on Cameron Toshack the other day at 22-1, I'd be happy based on what's been written about him if he got the job.

Just realised I wrote surprise twice in the same sentence. Horrible grammar - no surprise

When Mellon came in, Courts was always the long term plan as the replacement manager (hence all the rumours since MM left), but was never the plan for it to be this early. Will be another manager in and when/if that manager leaves in 2-3 years then Courts will take over.

Yip, I might have been speaking to someone over the weekend wink wink
See if someone like Nielson/Mellon had come out and said at some point through their time here, "you know what fans, we have this guy going through his managerial apprenticeship just now, and he is something special!", then i dont think there would be as much negativity as we are seeing just now. Add in a message from Tony last week to say, "we have this lad Courts, hes good, but no quite ready", then we might even have seen a "Give the boy a chance from the fans".

But there has been nothing but rumours, and ive heard all the same things again that GB was telling us about last week, and adding more meat to the rumours about who is making the signings.

I don't think that Neilson/Mellon have had no say on signings, it will be a collaborative effort just as it is at any club, especially one that has a Sporting Director/Director of Finance.

Go watch that Man City documentary (I think its on Amazon Prime) and you see how it works. Pep is needing a centre half, he tells Tixi to go find him one. Tixi identifies Laporte, and does all the signing talks etc. Pep concentrates on the training field, he isn't flying all across Europe watching dozen of matches trying to find the right guy.
