So after all the kid on interviewing of exceptional candidates Thomas gets the job.
Just watched his interview.

Mellon wanted to go in a different direction - never explained what direction that was.

What direction we are now heading.

I just hope it is not a direction down!

Pure speculation on my part, but i think MM wanted to create a team with the right balance of experience and youth with the objective of success with profit, you know, the right way. I believe the way forward is to make a profit, and nothing else will get in the way!
