    I hope this works out.

Most important is that we have Shanks and Benji next season.

The comparison with Stevie G in the interview. Champions league winning captain and Liverpool legend, England captain versus someone playing non league for Kelty .....not sure that one made sense ?!?!

Even Liverpool U18s is bigger job than doing that at united when then coming to Sevco

It doesn't make sense. As don't some of the other comparisons on this board prior to this. Yes guys have got to start somewhere, like all these guys have, but ffs they at least had a decent footballing background. This guys a paper coach.

Who would have thought that a player plying his trade with smaller clubs would be appointed onto the coaching staff of major European club as the manager’s interpreter would eventually go on to be one of Europe’s greatest managers.
Wonder what that clubs fans thought of his appointment.

Thinking back I wonder what else has been going on in the background that has led to this and I can’t stop thinking about our Covid match v Livi back in Nov with Tam, er sorry, Thomas in the dugout. MM obviously set the line up, the tactics, the subbies and dictated from the comfort of his living room with Thomas acting simply as a conduit. As we all know the performance that day was phucking scheite and symptomatic of many of MMs games. Did Courts openly question it? Did he internally raise objections (likely with TA) of how we were going to/did play that day? Did he question the competence of the then manager with the resources he had at his disposal? Has he been surreptitiously lobbying his own credentials with TA ever since???

There’s just something that suggests this has been a done deal for a long, long time (as GB has suggested) and that everything else, including ‘interviews’ has simply been background music.

For better or worse we’re all in this together now but Thomas has to realise that he is under immense pressure from the get go here. There’s not going to be too much of a honeymoon period I would suggest.

Agree - having slept on this I'm concerned about this though. Some posters here with proven records of correct information have me worried about the direction. But the old romantic in me is ignoring the fact its unproven and just hoping it works.

I also got a response from Tony on the tweet. I think he agrees twitter is an emotional platform and seems to have been taken out of context but regrettably so. emphasis is on making us a success now. the other part wasnt a throw away at our history. Know i dont know him and have no reason to stick up for him. Some signings coming.

Again, ridiculous comparison. Mourinho was a coach, not just an interpreteur, working alongside one of English footballs greatest ever managers. They'd managed teams in the Portuguese top league, taken teams to the Champions League semi final and subsequently went on to manage Barcelona before Mourinho then worked under Louis Van Gaal and was allowed control of the Barca B team as his apprenticeship. All of this before he became a manager.

If Courts had been appointed onto the coaching staff at Utd to learn his trade then you could maybe argue your comparison.

Agree the hard facts are he hasnt played senior football, hasnt managed in senior football (ok 1 game), hasnt been assistant in senior football, isnt supported by a senior direct of football and is a rather strange unusual and risk choice.

I think its fair anyone asking these questions. But we have to move on - im giving the management team my backing and i reckon most will. Does mean he rather has to hit the ground running or there will be carnage - which is another worry.

Good luck to the tank engine and tory boy.

I watched the interview in full and, I need to say, I'm much more pessimistic about this appointment after doing so.

Far too much ***** footing around with 'what the fans think'. I'd have much more respect for him if he'd not bothered and just told everyone; judge me on my results.

was the same with the interview. I couldnt run a football club but the strategy has been clear i suppose. my god if folk were to tweet about my business decisions and the fact most of my staff are in their 20s blonde and easy going (whilst useless at their job)

Its happened and welcome to Thomas and Liam all the very best of luck and we will support you. A guy has been offered the chance of a lifetime and taken it, so not their fault at all. Liam turned down hibs (albeit as a coach not assistant) knowing full well the fans backlash would be there. Spotlight on Tony with this one gets it right and i will buy him a years worth of KFC, get it wrong and well i dont want to think about that. Fully behind management team. lets get a few in and see how next few months go.
