EURO ’96 (in England)
This was the first time we/England had hosted a tournament in 30 years, since the World Cup in '66.
The number of teams had doubled again now and there were sixt*een teams in the Finals. So this meant four groups of four, and the top two in each group went into the Quarter finals and beyond. This was also the first time that the 'golden goal' rule was used and it proved to be very important in deciding the Final.
