Regardless of League, backwards step. Clearly, I’m biased. But, that aside, I’d suggest the move is like most of his passing.

Fair enough Gumpy, irks a bit that Stevenage is seen as an upward step.

    It was a 'no brainer'.

Stevenage Football Club has agreed terms with midfielder Jake Reeves…

The 28-year-old has made over 200 appearances in the English Football League for the likes of Brentford, AFC Wimbledon and Bradford City, before joining former manager Neil Ardley at Notts County last season.

Reeves said upon signing, “Having just played a year in the National League, it is nice to be back in the Football League with Stevenage.

“I am looking forward to playing at The Lamex as a home player, because playing here away from home was always a tough gig. I know this ground quite well”.

“I have met with the gaffer a couple of times now, and ever since talking to him and learning how he wants to play and what he wants to achieve, it was a no brainer for me”.

Manager Alex Revell said, “Jake is someone who we have admired for a long time at the Club, and we are delighted he has made the decision to join us”.

“His playing style fits our midfield profile, with his energy and intensity without the ball. His range of passing and ability to create is something I am excited to watch and develop even further.

“It is crucial we recruit within our Club principles and this season we are able to do that. Jake has the qualities we want in abundance, and we are looking forward to working with him and watching him grow as a Stevenage player”.

Jake Reeves bolsters Stevenage’s central midfield options and becomes Alex Revell’s fifth new signing of the summer.

Good, glad he's gone. Completely underwhelming for a centre mid in his prime from league above. We can do much better.

I did say a few ago that Reeves would leave to go back into the FL. Got harranged for it but heyho. I think he will end up at Mansfield.
I have an uneasy feeling about whats happening now. We have lost Enzio, Reeves and Doyle from the midfield. Doyle wont be playing next year. That leaves us looking for a whole new midfield to join JOB and Ruben and even that is not certain considering Rubens apparent progress. Miller will stay in the FL. We released Turner and McCrory, both left footed defenders leaving us without a left footed CB. We cudnt attract Ellis despite offering him a two year deal, he to prefers FL football and it looks very much like Slocombe is leaving too. He wont be the last. I have also heard that backroom staff are leaving too. The gaffa has time to bring in his replacements but the list is growing all the time and the loss of Reeves will be an unexpected blow to him.

Except it wont be an unexpected blow as he knew about the clause and has already said they expected it to happen for some time and have been planning replacements.

Not bothered one bit by Reeves leaving. Has showed his lack of class in going to Stevenage, but there loss is our gain!!! Nothing but backwards and sidewards passing. Use the funds to by a decent play maker in midfield. Should of been shown the door anyway.
