We won’t have a better chance, perhaps Southgate’s tactics are indeed genius? Looking back at teams who have won it is often the more defensive sides, particularly when underdogs. Thinking about Greece and Denmark in particular.
I am actually getting quite excited and I know it’s the hope that kills, but I do have some now!

We all have opinions, sometimes they prove to be correct and on other occasions, the opposite. I was critical of Southgate's selection for the German game, but happily was proved to be wrong. I, personally, think that he will stick to the same formula for the rest of the tournament, no matter who the opposition are. I would still like England to be a little more adventurous but they are through to the quarter finals without conceding a goal so as they say 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'.

That said I suppose it is ok to change you mind with the benefit of hindsight, plenty of precedents around over the last year or so.
No need to be quite so chippy Yarm.

I based this thread on what had happened in terms of other big teams getting knocked out and how the draw seemed to be falling into our lap.

I still don’t think we’ll win it because Italy and Belgium have the best sides in my opinion and the Spanish are an obvious threat, I also think Denmark are riding a wave of emotion.

I’m erring on a lost final if truth be known, probably to Italy.

To be fair I was only winding you up, not my style to be chippy.

I have always said I don’t expect us to win the thing either but said I wouldn’t be surprised if we did. At least we are in the right side of the draw and given ourselves a great chance of getting through to the final.

Just need our luck to hold out for another 3 games.
