During that period in West Belfast a 4.5 month emergency tour the Black Watch thankfully lost not one man and the many Arabs who served with them were granted leave to see Dundee United win the League at Dens in May 83.
The English regiment(Devon and Dorset's) who took over the most dangerous area in Northern Ireland where the Gallant forty twa served namely West Belfast including the Falls Road never had the same good fortune and lost a man during the transition period.
They were out in the streets with the Black Watch showing them the ropes but unfortunately one of them never noticed a trip wire.
