Hoping probably against hope that we come good on the recruitment front, and our recruitment strategy/team pulls out a few gems, and the reason we haven’t got bodies in yet are we holding out for specific targets. The extensions of Connolly and pawlett, and the fact we have a killie keeper on trial that is widely regarded as poor by those who have seen him regularly does not fill me with optimism I have to be honest. Longer it goes more nervous I will get that we end up with panic buys. As said I’m hoping we pull some rabbits out the hat, but those contract extensions keep gnawing at me.

Just a note of caution - Tam says 3 or 4, I feel that it's most likely 3. But 4 sounds better to us. If it's 3 and the keeper from Killie is one of them, then that only leaves 2. I am getting a slight feeling of deja vu here, harking back to this time last year with the club talking about making a few signings…

Aberdeen were interested in "player X" - two days later, "player X" is an Aberdeen player. Kilmarnock are interested in "player Y" - two days later "player Y" is paraded in a Kilmarnock strip. Meanwhile we are interested in a guy from Ipswich - two weeks later, we're still chasing this guy from Ipswich… a week later we finally concede that deal is dead. Then we're interested in Pavol Safranko - a week later we hear that that one isn't happening either. This continues all the way to deadline day and we secure McNulty on loan, end of story.

Hopefully we're not seeing a repeat of that.

btw (i may have posted this already) i rate rodgers as a keeper. Wont judge him on the defence he had in front of him at killie. Be fine as no 2 but of we get big money also as no 1 - trust me

shankland will sign new contract by december IF we change our style of play. Thats some good news. However if he scores 20 goals by then he will likely get a big signing but nice to know he has said he loves here but hated last season.

We were linked with him back in May. Mellon said nothing in it. Which, now we know, should be taken with a massive pinch of salt.

However, I have seen rumours of Toulouse and Groningen being interested in him so if we've managed to pull that off then it sounds like a good one. How is the source on that Shedboy?
