I was told during the week that Courts is a man who will take no sh!t. I personally find that hard to believe given how polite & proper he comes across when being interviewed but you never know.

Naw when ShedBoy 71 posted that Kane and Sterling were suspended for diving not for one minute did i believe it to be true but i do take your point regarding the internet in general.

Butcher was playing at the back mate.Harkes was awful though,cannie argue with that.As far as i remember The Big Man has got his fingerprints all over the new contracts awarded to Connolly,Harkes and Pawlett.
There is F ALL Tam can dae about that now to be fair.

Harkes is a good player just needs to show it more, Aberdeen away shows how good he can be and he is at a good age

A wins a win in this kind of fixture, no one cares about performance in early July in this competition, one of our worst ever results and performances at home against East Fife a couple years ago was forgotten a few weeks later as we played 4 won 4 in the league thumping Inverness and the fun

Still frustrating to see three centre backs though in thar kind of game for me, looked a bit better second half, early days, not worried at this stage,away to a team full of players from higher levels than their current division, we were in a hiding to nothing as McInnes pointed out

Agree. There were a couple of positives in a night of mostly negatives. Freeman, and Chalmers who changed the dynamic of the game when he came on. Plus Shanks all round game was great to watch.

I can only guess Courts set us up 352 because that's how he's going to play in the league games. But the problem with that system is you're losing a 4th man in midfield and you'll need a very good 3 to make it work. We don't have that yet. Might have been better going 451 tonight, getting the creative players we do have like Chalmers Fuchs and Mochrie behind Shankland and looking to create space on the flanks.

If Courts persists with Pawlett and Harkes in midfield we're going to struggle. (The body language between Courts and Pawlett at the substitution looked bad) We have to add a midfielder and a striker.

Giving extensions to Pawlett and Clark was a disaster, no clue what Asghar was thinking there.

But...a win is what was needed and we move forward.

There were, as you say, some positives to take. Personally thought Clark was up there with one of our better performers. So disagree with some of what you say. Dropped into space took the ball in the turn multiple times. Chalmers made a difference though. So unpredictable compared to the rest

3 at the back can be very attacking. Our perennial problem remains we are far too deep defensively. Results in wing backs and midfield being too disjointed and leaving too much space. If we could be 10-15yds further up, you can create situations like the goal when the wing back receives the ball very high. If we could do that, 3 at the back could work well for us.

First game, stuff to build on. Early signs are to me that Harkes and Pawlett can't fit in the same team at present. Interested to see what changes for Wed.

Although i'm now backing Tam 100%(True)i still think we are in deep shyte unless The Big Man gets his FN finger oot.When he said at the meeting were you happy with the football you watched last season?,because i wasn't.I see where he is coming from but he is blaming Mellon when the truth is he is just as culpable.
When a manager is appointed by the board or in our case The Big Man and there is outrage from the fans what normally happens is the coach who we all think will fail is backed to the hilt.
Its like an "I will show you that you were all wrong and i'm right."The problem for us we are not seeing that yet and i'm wondering if we ever will.My reasoning for thinking that goes back to the contracts handed out by Tony to existing players do not fill me with confidence but he must really think they deserved them which is a massive worry.

What I find even scarier mate is that until more signings are made, Pawlett and Harkes appear to be first choice. If Chalmers doesnt start ahead of Pawlett on Wednesday then what are we doing??
