Persistent Non Covid Cough!?

I googled 'what did GPs do during the Covid pandemic' and was surprised to read many had actually been working.

A number of them have also been administering free jabs in their spare time at Covid centres. Apparently. According to themselves and their professional body that is. I have no reason to doubt this has been the case with all GPs.... at all.

Their video calls have also risen from 30% of their previous face to face time to 50% currently. They've also been kept extremely busy with emails and keeping abreast of the latest government directives.

So if you've got internet access and are tech' savvy there shouldn't be an issue getting a video call appointment.....

.....once you get through the triage phone queue and navigate a number of questions you may or may not wish to answer in conversation with their notoriously helpful reception staff.

So in short you'll all be relieved to discover they still do in person appointments both in the surgery (following strict social distancing protocols) and the home should the cause of symptoms prove sufficient (again, apparently).

Seemed perfectly straightforward and plausible to me, until I remembered the sign on our GP's reception door early last summer which clearly stated the surgery was closed for in person appointments until further notice. I don't remember reading a sign saying they'd reopened for business.

I did get an invite to have a free flu jab from the practice nurse in November on account of having all be it well managed asthma (when not infected with Covid of course). The plot thickens.

At our surgery it’s taking two to three weeks to even get a phone consultation with the cleaner!

Me and the wife have had various health issues in the last 18 months and have not had a single GP appointment.

They wheel out the practice nurse for absolutely everything.

When I mentioned this to our practice nurse she smiled and rolled her eyes before nodding and saying quietly......”we’re braver than that lot!”.

So practice nurse deals with almost anything whilst our GP and her GP husband raked in almost £750k in the last financial year! 🤔

I do think a public enquiry is needed after this is over, what’s the point of the GP if they aren’t willing to face their public?

Dunno mate, here's the contact page for the Royal College of General Practitioners. Probably best to ask directly rather than wait for the results of an enquiry. All of the very best getting a coherent answer 😊 ........
