Exactly. We employ 4 people who work directly within recruitment and another 5 who work alongside them. WTAF are these people doing if we aren't recruiting players?

The signings overall have been good, Shankland Fuchs and Hoti is starting to look Premiership ready. It's the players we've retained these last 2 years that's the problem but I've now worked out why we retained them.

I don't think it was our intention to add any players after Mulgrew signed. I get the feeling we won't sign anyone until we've lost several games. I think the club have been stringing fans fans along. Will be delighted to be proved wrong though.

If it wasn't for the fact we did almost exactly the same last year, I'd probably be certain of this also. The fact Edwards, Fuchs & McNulty arrived between Aug - Oct, still has me thinking we may sign someone. Piss poor to be going into the first game of the season with one first 11 signing having been made however.

Could be that we have tried to get some in but for whatever reason they didn’t go ahead, hard to believe, but possible. And if they have tried to get a certain type of player who then decides Tannadice ain’t for him, I’d rather the hold onto the dosh than go out and just bring in someone in desperation.

You may well turn out to be right (re Aug-Oct) but imo it will only be because DUSF the Fed and the rest of the fanbase is having a collective meltdown.

It comes back to the model they've chosen.
Cheaper older pros on extensions supporting several youngsters getting into the team.

Or the model I would have chosen, clear out most of the dead wood, strip the payroll back, make savings but add 2/3 players with real quality to blend with fewer kids at a time.
