I just reflect on previous recent signings that are supposed to have offered creativity. Just the hardest position in football to recruit to. Those that are good are in high demand and are subsequently expensive.
Not a surprise our only "successful" creative signing in recent years has been McMullan and just how successful is highly debatable.
Fraser was hounded out of Tannadice by boos (poor timing for him to come through in fairness). I am not sure that we will find many creative players with more potential than the young players we have. Outside that, we simply can't afford an established creative player.
We should always hope, but lack of action doesn't necessarily equate to lack of effort
Yeah agree don't knopw if pawlett and connely are the guys I would be giving contracts to either .That said I would never have gave ian philips a contract and wee jim loved him loads of people I know hated kirky a championship winner thats why I leave it to the managers they live or die by their signings maybe MM died by his or maybe as some say he had no choice TA did them all?
I'd imagine our search for candidates on the playing side are as widespread as our search for candidates on the managerial side were.
It's not that I don't approve of their age, more is this really the best we can get? Really? Two guys at the end of their careers who aren't going to get any better or earn us any money in the future? Having the massive recruitment team that we have, who according to the manager, spend 18 months tracking players, these two are the best they can find? Nah, no chance. Sorry.
when played correctly he did a good job, most of Shanklands assists in the first few months of championship season came from him. it was only when Neilson started messing about with the 11 and forcing in Pawlett that changed. He then didn't get a game due to the way MM wanted to play, went to Dundee and pretty much single handidly turned around their season with great numbers. Of course id want us to sign players who could actually provide service to Shankland... wouldnt you?
Would really hope it is a bit more.Think they knew who they wanted in as a manager if they were right or wrong time will tell but really hope they have scouts out there looking at players may not be easy to find players that will better us in our budget and persuade players that can to come but really hope they are trying or we are what some people seem to think on here a basket case of a club.
