I’ve just arrived from Portavadie & it’s crawling with Ruperts. I’m no blood & soil nationalist & very much welcome the English tourist pound but do they have to speak in that accent? Put me right off my aubergine curry. As for Islay, it’s wetter, flatter & not as pretty on the eye as Arran. Off to sample some peaty whiskies & pretend it doesn’t all taste the same

I've never been to Arran. I find the whole idea a bit weegie.

It’s much the same as Islay, only better by any way you want to measure it. The Weegies get off at Bute. Most of our supporters club are 4th generation Weegies, from all the pumping they did doon the water

Cheers, sticking to the Tennents for now. We’ll save the whisky/fighting for later

Incidentally, the pub I’m in has 2 (two) wall mounted hun tops. Not something you would find on Arran. Fact. End of.

There's more to the island than Bowmore. Someone stuck a George Cross up next to a Saltire on some scaffolding in Portnahaven. It's been removed twice.

Incidentally, Arran is an island version of Craig Tara.

We’re going to venture out and have a look but I don’t have my hopes up. I miscounted last night. It’s 3 (three) wall mounted hun tops & 2 Chelsea tops, including one signed by John Terry.

This island is stauncher than the Louden Tavern

Word probably hasn’t filtered through to these wurzels about their demise. This island really is the @rse end of nowhere. It’s no wonder they all drink
