With that draw against Blackburn rounding off an unconvincing yet undefeated preseason there are now only 5 days until the real thing starts. A mixed bag of performances suggested that if we play well we can give anyone a game but with Covid absences and injuries I don't think we'll be seeing the best eleven for a while yet and a few doubts remain about the quality of back up players in the wide midfield and wing back positions - which will affect our ability to score. Unconvincing but it's better than having a **** preseason so I'm staying firmly on the fence whilst being wildly optimistic for now.

Kachunga signed as replacement for the injured Amaechi - not a particularly impressive record which still leaves open the question of where the goals will come from if not Doyler.
It starts today. Will the positive attitude around the club following an encouraging preseason come crashing down or will the Wanderers show we can survive and thrive in League 1?
Can't wait.
Pick the bones out of that!
An equaliser with the final kick of the ball after 95 minutes of all out war, 6 goals in total, a couple of decent penalty shouts, plenty of missed chances and neither team dominating possession. Absolutely joyous game for a neutral, utter torture for fans.
I guess the takeaway is that the Wanderers can compete at this level but until we know a bit more we can't write off the chances of promotion just yet. But if that game is anything to go by, it's going to be hard, hard work.
A day for our goalie to forget.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGoqG1gozoI
Five rested for the EFL cup tie with Barnsley, but Santos is back and the others competing for a regular starting spot did OK apart from the first 25 minutes when we lucky not to concede. Barnsley also rested a few of their better players but they are a league above us so we have to be happy with draw and winning the penalty shootout.
All well and good but it's the league results that matter this year.
After two thrilling 3 - 3 draws we finally get a win from a very closely fought contest away at Lincoln. Highly entertaining and nerve wracking game and the lads showed they can be competitive in this League. Promotion? I'm not so sure- it's early days and there are a lot of decent teams in the mix. But we're improving.
Another tight win and TBH Oxford should have equalised at the death but the lad scooped it over the bar from 6ft.
Whether or not we compete for promotion it's an exciting team to watch and every game so far has been a nailbiter - so much more entertaining than pre-Evatt.
Proper test of the squad tonight. With Amaechi, Bakayoko, Aimson and others injured and with Evatt intent on giving everyone game time there will be a few changes against Wigan away in the Caraboa cup.
8 changes, a 0 - 0 borefest and lost on pens.
More worrying was Cambridge 1 BWFC 0. A well worked goal early doors TBH but what we learned today was that we're going to have trouble breaking down packed defences - especially when a few players seemed well off their game.
No chance of promotion on today's performance.
