9/11 was the cover for going into Afghanistan but most of the hijackers were Saudis, no invasion of Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden hiding in Pakistan, no invasion there either.

I wonder what was the point of picking on Afghanistan. Was it all just a deflection because the Saudis and Pakistanis were bigger diplomatic challenges. Afghanistan was without any meaningful international support and so it was an easy option to demonstrate that something was being done to prevent a second 9 11 atrocity?
