I wonder what was the point of picking on Afghanistan. Was it all just a deflection because the Saudis and Pakistanis were bigger diplomatic challenges. Afghanistan was without any meaningful international support and so it was an easy option to demonstrate that something was being done to prevent a second 9 11 atrocity?

Always though the excuse was bin laden was hiding there?
Wuda been interesting if putin put him up at his gaff.
