I think there's a big disconnect and complete misunderstanding by some fans on the analysis of some United players.

To understand what I'm getting at you have to revisit what our club objectives are - to be consistently top 6, pushing for Europe and contesting Cup competitions.

So, when I and other posters talk about certain players shortcomings it's not because we want to criticise the player or the club just for the sake of it. We don't. We're observing the potential to reach the club objectives with the players under discussion.

There's a few posters who can't abide any perceived criticism of any player or the club, no matter how justified it is. To me that's ridiculous, we need to accept reality and shortcomings so that we can address them in order to reach our goals.

Read the objectives again, consistent top 6, pushing for Europe and contesting Cups. The last one means having a realistic chance of winning a final if we reach one, and that would include v Secvo or Celtic at a full Hampden. I would say right now as we stand we will not reach those targets unless we offload some players and replace them with better quality. Feel free to disagree.

Were making progress, no doubt about it, but to reach the objectives we need further progress. Identifying weakness and addressing it is a strength. The idea that some fans are somehow disloyal to the club for wanting better is ridiculous.

Yes agree with above points, I actually think the squad of last season deserve tremendous credit for staying up, as it was very limited. (Compare the squad that stayed up last season to one that got relegated in 94-95 in terms of quality).

They are honest players, for their shortcomings, so don’t deserve personal abuse, but fact of matter is to improve the squad also needs to evolve. That doesn’t necessarily mean ditching them all either, could just mean getting better players alongside them, it’s a squad game also, so the likes of a butcher may be better suited to different opponents etc.

Would be good to compare those stats to another player. He had great debut all things considering. Very impressed with the boy.

I'll bet you any money if you asked 1 fan from every club in Scotland who the biggest diver in Scottish football is then Pawlett would win hands down(no pun intended)

    It's embarrassing at times.
