I thought that was very flat from a home perspective, very little atmosphere, a lot of long throws and long balls but not many chances created. Just a shame that we, once again, made a howler for the equaliser and dropped two points. Would have taken a point beforehand but a little
underwhelmed really in the end because I don’t think we had to work that hard for it and probably threw away the other two.

Our next six all look very comfortable. We need to be winning at least five and if we do it’s been a good start.

Did you get a stitch or did you always plan to walk back?

Losing your opening two at home having been top for the best part of last season and gone so close is bad enough, but 0-4 to a team that had just lost at home two days earlier is more than just a random result. Looks like a major play off hangover.
Or alternatively they looked to bounce back from a poor opening day got well geed up by the manager for a big game at Notts and rose to the occasion we were a little bit over confident after thrashing Barnet and then a poor error by us gave them something to hang on to. They gave their all to do that but as we often see at this level that sort of performance is simply not sustainable for players who play at this level and they collapsed after the draining thought of 10 men again. Anyway all we need to do is concentrate on getting points on the board and forget about anyone else. We have an excellent run of games to do that now and have kept our unbeaten record. We were always going to be massively up against it at Wrexham but we acquitted ourselves fairly well defensively which was a big question mark for many Notts fans and I think all would have settled for a point there. The only game we have under performed so far is Torquay. We are still a work in progress but I am overall marginally encouraged by our start to the season.

Twenty points from nine games that'd be great COYP

We were good, maybe even excellent defensively, but we were poor in an attacking sense. We created very little but fortunately made the most of our one real chance. I try to view the overall performance, and we didn't create much at all, so I can't describe us as excellent.

Contrast our next five with who Wrexham have to face next month...

Southend, Woking, Grimsby, Dag & Red, Stockport.

Wrexham will do very well to be top three come October.

Yes we all have to play each other twice - home and away - before the end of the season but the way the fixtures come out does have a say I think. Just look at Norwich - Buzzing from going up, then they get Liverpool, Man City and Leicester in the opening three, lose all of them and now they must already feel like they're up against it. There's always examples of teams starting slowly and going on to finish top or vice versa, but generally how you start usually has a very big say in how you go on.

Fairly decent from Notts so far but we've really got to make this coming month count.

It was a decent display, (mostly defensive), that earned us a good point against a side that won't drop too many at home this season. Given that they've spent more money than Munto, hang on.

Just reading the Wrexham forum, they’re looking to bring even more players in. I think in many years this Notts squad would be good enough to win the league, but with our rivals chucking the kitchen sink at it, it’s hard to see this season.

We still look short of the necessary quality in the goalkeeping department, midfield, and up front.
