I had a text message today saying I needed to make an appointment for a blood test for my diabetes review. Was 7th in the queue as I needed to go near the surgery for something else I called in to be told there’s a national shortage of bottles and they are not expecting a delivery for nearly 3 weeks. Surely they know the quantities required on a repeat order basis! And why send the text if you can’t make an appointment.

But they are made of plastic and under pressure from the environmentalists

So the companies that make them are looking at whether or not it is a profitable product line. They aren’t charities, so plastic bottles including medical ones are getting more expensive to produce.

Supply logistics in all industries are in disarray at the moment.

On the subject of waiting times in the health industry, don't just think it's the NHS, it's just as bad here in the US. Just because you pay for and have health insurance it doesn't mean anyone will see you at the drop of a hat. My daughter waited 6 weeks for a test on her ears and the day before it was due she was contacted and told it had been re-arranged for in 3 months time.

    Yes indeed

But here in the U.K. we are a crowded island with resources that are maxed out particularly in major towns and cities

But still we have loonies that want to add more to that population and then sit back and complain when their access to those limited resources are further compromised
