If we end up in a lockdown after the amount of vaccinations administered then there’s something seriously wrong. This will also put off the people who have not yet had it as quite rightly they’ll be saying ‘what’s the f ucking point’
That’s my position OA. And the vaccine hesitancy could/should have been addressed much earlier by introducing mandatory vaccination (excepting those genuinely medically exempt) for entry into pubs/clubs/restaurants/foreign travel etc. Those that then didn’t want the vaccine well that would be fine - you don’t have to have it- but don’t then expect to also be able to engage in activities that carry a degree of ‘risk’ to themselves and others. I guarantee take up of the vaccine would have been much quicker which is unfortunate as the hospitalisations and deaths are almost exclusively amongst the unvaccinated now and it’s dragging the rest of the population now like a ball and chain.
Call it the flu & get on with it.
'Flu Two' has got a nice ring about it....
(If above offends anyone I'm only kidding)
Or better written as 'Flu 2'
Thats the thing mate, it is mandatory for many countries that you show proof of yellow fever for an example. No yellow fever jab no fly and no entry. UK Gov could well have adopted the same thing and said right, a'body needs vaccinated or its game over you'll be excluded from participating in X, Y and Z. Uptake would have been quicker.
FWIW I think the uptake has been good just not quick enough but i blame the system for that as opposed to the people. I had a right carry on with trying to change the appointment the NHS sent me and in the end i lost out on my jabs here as once i couldnt change it thats was me off the system and couldn't select any other dates. How many other people has that happened to and they've went 'ah f uck it, i'll wait on another letter coming through'? To this date i still haven't had any more requests from the NHS to receive a vaccination and they wont know i've already had it elsewhere.
Was glad i got the J&J and got it over and done with but the system we operate here is poor IMO
Totally agree OA. I was fortunate that due to my profession I was vaccinated way back in December in one of the first tranches. I asked at the time about what sort of paperwork I would receive to prove my vaccination status moving forward as my thought was that it would become necessary in time. I have to say that I was quite shocked at the time to be informed by my vaccinator that there was no system and no plans for vaccination certification. Given that they knew from some months previously that the vaccines were likely to be a go-er and that around the turn of the year was the probable starting date for the program, the lack of planning and foresight for the likely requirement for certification I found quite staggering. But then again, you can park this lack of foresight beside many other phuck ups, such as the care homes scandal, the education/exams shambles, the exceptionism surrounding Covid in Glasgow as opposed to Sheepsville etc etc
I know mate, its been a major f uck up fae day 1 sadly![]()
Dunno where we go fae here to be honest, suppose we just need to see what happens eh
While the death rate for Scotland remains in the normal range, nothing should be done.
