Bournemouth v Barnsley match thoughts

Didn’t see the match.
First time for a long time.
Now on holiday - flew over Bournemouth at kick off time.

Been updated by someone watching the game on tele.
Description that stands out are:
Toothless up front (no surprise there).
No strength up front (no surprise there).
Gomes is class (good news).

As I said earlier - we weren’t ready to face Bournemouth.
And I still think recruitment in the window should have been better with regard to the target striker position.
The club knew Morris would be out for weeks.
And the club knew Obbi might take time to build up to speed.
So why didn’t they bring another target striker in - even if on loan !?!?!
Even if we had 3 target strikers at the club - it gives Marcus the option of playing 2 at the same time while ones sat on the bench.

And I still stick by what I said weeks ago Nudger, when you were saying what you did about Woodrow. For me he is NOT right for the captain's role, surely it would suit somebody like Helik instead.
I agree that the transfer window was an underwhelming one, and Id go further and say a poor one, but its got to the stage now where we have to be grateful do we just for not selling anybody. Even though we're not addressing the weak areas in the squad until the very last hour of the month, we have to give them a thumbs up it seems for simply not selling like we always used to.

What's concerning is that 8 of those players who started today were part n parcel of the team that finished 5th last season .

8 players that are familiar with the 3-4-3 we operate with .

The solution is as clear as the nose on your face .

I wondered if the results and performances don't improve by the time of the next Intl break, how many more of us might be saying/posting it. I must admit that worries me what happened or rather didn't happen today.

Schopp right in saying that we were lazy some shocking passes, Woodrow needs dropping.
Today was mice against men.
Schopp gone by Xmas. We looked disjointed, and showed no plan.

I can remember Val stood in the technical area with steam blowing out of his ears as he watched a dire performance at Cardiff in one of his early games .

Things clearly were going to change .

He put his own stamp on it very quickly , changed the formation and style of football .

Everyone knew their jobs and what was expected of them .

We started to win games and climb the table .

I'd suggest at the moment the players aren't sure what they are doing out there .

The players seem to be caught somewhere between last season playing 3-4-3 and a different style this .

The end result is you end up doing neither .

3-4-3 is pressing your tyts off for 60 minutes and change the front three .

Acido - I think it was an excellent window - but under the circumstances we are lacking in one position.
All other bases are covered except for one - and incredibly it was that position that all our success last season was based on - namely, target strikers.

Animal - if we go 343 then dosent that mean some of the play is ‘direct football’?
Which dosent add up if we haven’t got a target striker currently available.
As I’ve said - our most productive period of a game last season was when both target strikers were on the field at the same time.
