You make some very good points here Bar and certainly the tennis calendar can be a big issue.

He decision to pull out of Wimbledon in round four when she didn’t feel right is actually now proven to be a very shrewd move on her part and it may well be that this wise decision actually enabled her win yesterday.

If I was her or was advising her I would be severely limiting her participation in the lesser tournaments.

If you look at Brooks Koepka in golf, he does very little in the non majors and is almost always in contention in the four most important tournaments that a career is measured by.

Chasing the number one world ranking is not always the wisest strategy in a perverse way, doing this very thing is what wrecked Andy Murray’s hip and forced his major surgery.

She is so natural and so talented I think she’s vest advised to play when SHE wants to play and on her terms, let the rest of them play a 48 weeks a year calendar and burn themselves out.

When you’re this good it’s all about quality training, rest and being in peak condition for four or five tournaments a year.

Andy Murray was number one for a few weeks out of a 17 year career and won 3 majors, Emma is better served not worrying about her ranking and simply racking up the major wins, by definition she’ll automatically win that number one spot.

I hope she doesn’t chase the $, I think her potential sponsorship deals mean she doesn’t have to chase tournament winnings.

When Uniqlo signed up Federer to his clothing contract they paid him $330m, I think it’s a no brainer that she is going to earn vast money from clothing and fashion brands.

She is now the hottest property in women’s sport and right up there even if you include the top men.

Her good looks, personality and her ethnicity actually make her an intoxicating person for major brands to be involved with.

I’d love to be late 20’s again and understand the sports world the way I do now, if I’d been late 20’s and seen her playing at 14-15 I’d actually have given up my job to become her agent/manager.

Whoever has that task is in the most wonderful position now, going to work will feel like a magic carpet ride every day!
