I wouldn't go that far, but I think it's now clear that they don't have or are unwilling to spend any money of their own (of any significance). Loads of people were saying at the time Arsley looked doomed that we'd see the Reedtz bros real statement of intent when they appointed their first manager. Well I guess we did. That is not to say Burch is a disaster or even a failure, but it hardly screamed "we are serious about promotion" did it and it's obvious he was brought in to be a "yes man", hence his title of "head coach" or whatever it is, not manager.

No. Unless you choose to interpret it that way.

If you do, I would guess you would be in a minority of one.

I was hoping for it not to be, hence my question. The 'next' was what gave rise to the question.

Why would you really hope it was a 'Reedtz out' post?

    2. We don't have a decent wing back at the club. This is problematic when we play with two of them.
    3. Taylor is not as good as Miller was. I can totally see why Chesterfield wanted rid.
    4. Francis may well have potential. But he isn't a natural defensive midfielder and we don't have time to wait for him to turn into one. He's not ready. We needed better (and have done for years.)
    5. We have no physical presence in midfield. How many seasons have we been saying it now?
    6. JOB has conned you all into thinking he is a valuable part of this squad. He does nothing but shout at his team mates. We should have got rid but we inexplicably gave him a two year deal. Mental.
    7. Roberts and Rodders are ridiculously over hyped. Rodders has done nothing since Barnet and Roberts is just a decent Conference player. The Geordie Messi stuff is embarrassing.
    8. Wootton is a good player but never gets any service because our team rarely crosses the ball to him. That being said, we needed a poacher in the Summer and didn't sign one.
    9. Sam is a waste of a squad place. He's useless.
    10. Vincent needs a chance. He has to be better than JOB.

7.Disagreed ( think they are both better than our level but perhaps not as good as we have started to think , and they both seem to have started to believe the hype)
    8.Agreed
9.Disagreed ( doesn't get chance to show he could be a waste of space due to the fact he is behind Mitchell in the pecking order who has so far in my opinion shown nothing to warrant being preferred over him)
    10.Agreed.

Certainly not a minority of one, I too interpreted 'next' as wanting new owners. If not what did you mean by it UTM?

Yeah, maybe 'next' should have been followed by a question mark rather than a full stop.

I'm hopeful that the Reedtz Bros. have a long term plan which is not the oft-tried 'throw money at it and pray it works' that we've previously experienced. I say 'hopeful' because, as we all know, they play their cards very close to their chests, which I rather like about them. Of course, it could be that they don't have the money to spend or it could be that they choose not to at this point. None of us truly know.

I'd say the Burchnall appointment screams that they have a patient approach based on a 'club philosophy'. He's a well-respected coach who is also a football modernist rather than a traditionalist. I like that, despite the current lack of consistent eye-pleasing footie. They also seem to have invested 'differently' from the usual Notts owners, for example they've made the training facility a key ingredient, with pitches maintained to the degree that they look as immaculate as the Meadow Lane pitch they mimic, the hiring of a specialist restart coach etc. These less visible things hint at a plan to equip the club for better things.

I don't know whether it will work any more than anyone else on here does but I do genuinely have a liking for their quiet and reserved style of ownership so far. They, and Richard Montague, come across as thoughtful and strategic people, which has been a rarity at our club for as long as I've known it.

Of course this could all be a façade; a thin veneer of respectability and public image covering a massive gamble with limited funding. It doesn't feel that way to me though. I get the impression they have a proper strategy combined with a business plan which takes into account the huge element of luck in football. My feeling is that they are as frustrated as us by the failure to get promoted yet and that if and when we do get back into League Two we may see the purse strings slacken in the signings department.

We shall see, all of us, and hopefully we see something positive in the not too distant future. After all, we're not far off the pace points-wise and we've only lost a single game so far, by one goal, away from home, with a makeshift defence and a rookie 'keeper between the sticks.

Early days. Fingers crossed and all that.

I think you will find Kewell was starting to utilise Alessandra's abilities , around the time he rumbled stead as being not fit for purpose up front !
