You are right QLD out of Woody's selected 3 I only saw King Kenny and he was past his best. All great players undoubtedly but always difficult to compare different eras as the game back then was so different to today's game.

But that doesn't mean the game hasn't moved on hugely, a great example is physiotherapy. One of the best teams in Europe and best in the UK didn't have a qualified physio throughout in the 60/70s. In each case it was the duty of the assistant manager none of whom at a medical diploma of any sort!!

That's mind-blowing at any professional level let along the elite level in the sport.

The game is unrecognisable since those bucket and sponge (only) days. Players play longer as a result, and are far better athletes. A few of them nowadays can play a bit too

I still can't get over the fact there are only used to be one sub back then!

    Lol, ouch!

I'm not sure 'Bites yer legs' Hunter would get close to tackling the best attacking players of today. Gone in flash, Norman wouldn't know what had just happened.

If he did manage to leave something on one of them I'd predict the player would complete at least 3 rolls and Hunter would be carded.

No it’s not just 11 v 11 as I’m guessing any Championship or Premier League coming to the lane should wipe the floor with us, coming back to reality with Notts playing in the NL against other NL teams it’s about having the best players to your budget to implement the managers plan, and looking who we’ve signed we haven’t done it very well, and that issue comes from those in charge. Interestingly looking at the prediction thread it looks like not many people have faith too.

A different game in the seventies, yes and far more entertaining on and off the pitch.

Before mid 60s there were no substitutes.
Splash some magic water on from the bucket and carry on!

Yet just a couple of games ago the prediction thread was overwhelmingly positive!

The more you can put into your game the more you will get out of it and increase your chances of having a lucrative career. The best put in hours of practice on their skills.
Interesting in our industry our drivers are constantly on the simulators to learn and refine details from race circuits that are upcoming in the season. The drivers say you can’t beat seat time whatever it is in testing or races.

How many people would fly on a commercial plane if a pilot had not been trained and hadn’t amassed hours in a simulator?

However you dress it up, it’s still 11 v 11. Of course there are levels. I don’t understand the point you are trying to make and the relevance to Notts? Notts are trying to gain an advantage by coaching and developing players. Not throwing money at it.

So, we’ve lost 1 game out of 8, but we’ve not done well with the signings we’ve made? Similar record to Chesterfield, have they not done well with their signings?

‘The issue comes from those in charge’, what issue? Trying to run the club sensibly and not putting it in jeopardy of going out of business?

I understand folk have frustrations and concerns. But, it’s almost like some are waiting for the club to fail so they can say told you so.

I can’t stand this ****ty league, the governance of it, standard of officiating etc. But, I’d much sooner be alive and fighting in the NL with the approach we have than out of business.
