I thought Notts played well first half
Nemane looked dangerous and we never looked in any trouble. half time came and i felt confident Notts would go on to win comfortably as Woking didn't offer any threat going forward
Second half Notts struggled to get hold of the ball early on but after ten mins or so could have scored a couple to kill the game
The change in the game came when they brought on their number 11, he terrorized Brindley down the left and pulled our midfield all over the place.
I couldn't believe what was happening, We just folded like a pack of cards. We looked clueless once they scored but we kept making the same errors
We need to be more ruthless and do the ugly stuff better
I thought the officials were terrible again btw although their effort it was definitely over the line in the first half as i was sat right behind the goal
Will still be at The Shay on Tuesday though
Good on you. For all the sh*t suffered by the Notts’ fans in recent years their loyalty is beyond reproach. Hopefully the rewards will arrive soon although it won’t be this season unless we get an Ian Bishop/Gary Strodder type of player in to strengthen the midfield and defence respectively.
We created some half chances, but even if we had taken one of them I don't think it would have killed the game. Once Woking equalised it was men against boys, and we were the boys. We have a soft underbelly and I'm sure many opposing managers will have worked that out. Unless we rethink our approach, even a playoff place is looking questionable.
We needed Elliott today, if only ?
I don't think we're a poorer side than Ardley's but we're poorer than the one that finished the season, for 2 simple reasons, Ellis and Miller; we haven't replaced them.
I agree in part with those saying we need a ball winner in midfield, but we haven't been particularly overrun in the middle much, we just haven't converted possession into chances and today we didn't defend balls into the box.
I think Burchnall has the good ideas but, unfortunately, so far, it doesn't look like the analysis/budget has given him the right players to put it into action.
After all the pre-season hype and early games, it usually takes me until October to start wishing the season was over and, bang on cue..........
