Bizarre game.
Two cracking goals put us 2 nil up in the first half hour and it looked like we were going to batter them at that stage. Fair play to them though - they stuck at it, saw out the half and then came out firing and the game opened up although quality defending at both ends reduced both teams to half chances - until they got a pen when our CB slipped and the captain dangled a leg out. He claimed there was no contact but the lad made a meal of it and the ref bought it.
Dixon, our goalie danced from side to side then stood still as their striker blasted it down the middle and it was saved.
But within minutes a bizarre sequence of events led to their goal. A through ball to their striker on the edge of our box - linesman flagged him offside and he started jogging back - our CB picks up and places the ball for the free kick - ref overrules the linesman and says the through ball hit one of our players on the way through so it wasn't offside - books our CB for handball and gives them a FK on the edge of our box - which their lad stuck in the top bins.
With 10 minutes left they piled forward for an equaliser and we nearly had them twice on the break but it ended 2 - 1.
