Just slightly OT and at the other end of the country. For years as a yougster we went to Margate/Cliftonville forour holidays year in year out. In the days of travelling overnight after being picked up by Coach on Smethwick High St on a Frrday . Obviously as s kid you probably see things in a different light, but a few years ago while in the area I had a chance to revisit the place and what a letdown it was.

Tatty about the edges was the kindest thing I could think of.Most of the Guest Houses seem to have been taken over by Social Security accomodation (if thats what it's called) Most of the main entertainment features had vanished. All in all quite a depressing visit.

I have recently joined a local Facebook page for that area and it's good to see a lot of the locals are trying to get the town back to something to be proud of. As I said as kids we probably see things through rose tinted specs, but in this case its what was what was once a thriving seaside holiday resort had descended into a bit of a dump.
