    Aston Villa, Newcastle managers

Eddie Howe for Newcastle, Ranieri for Watford. The question is can they turn their respective teams around? Howe is not that sort of manager, I don't think. But....if he gets the money to buy players he might. Aston Villa is managerless at the moment. Gerard is rumoured to be in the picture. Doesn't seem the kind of person who can turn the tide of losses, but I just don't know. All these choices might be important for us if we continue to struggle. Don't think Norwich will stay up no matter who they pick. Burnley will continue to struggle I think. In the end it may be (big may be) down to us, Bumley, Barcodes, Villains, Hornets. Brentford look like they are sliding too. So maybe 6 clubs for 2 spots. Villains and Newcastle have some talent, unlike the others (apart from Leeds of course). Thats why I am interested in managers.

Howe is a stepping stone imo … big job on his hands. Stupid move for Gerard. Smith to Norwich would be a good catch for them.
In regards to Burnley they seem to struggle each and every season but each and every season they put these good runs it at some point, I think they will be safe. Too early for me to think of May.

Eddie Howe is a deep thinker and good at developing a squad but will he have the time, experience and authority in the dressing room to turn Newcastle around. hard to predict but he will have a style of play in mind and communicate this clearly.

Gerard to Villa would be good for both parties - he knows the MD - he has shown what he can do at Rangers and seems to what to take the next step on the ladder in the Prem. they have a good squad albeit it with injuries and Gerrard knows what he wants - suspect he may bring a couple from rangers with him.

Dyche - like him a lot as he sticks to his principles and doesn’t spend massive amounts. They are playing decent stuff at the moment and a cornet looks like a bargain. Think they have a good chance of making 16th or 17th if they can maintain their current form.

    Norwich look doomed.

Watford are a strange one as they have some good players but they don’t seem to play consistently well.

Think Wolves are struggling too and play too defensively without being able to stop goals.

Think the four that may finish below us are

    Norwich
    Villa
    Wolves
    Burnley/Watford

Think Newcastle if they spend big may escape but who knows - crazy league and very unpredictable.

It will be all right Alfy boy you are better than some other teams around us. Best case scenario if you start going really bad we have some good talent that will be pushed to you and save the day.

Not directly LUFC related so here's my contribution.......

Absolute unadulterated twaddle. Given the resources available to him now (compare with the sows ear he had to deal with at Bournemouth), survival in the PL is guaranteed and just watch out next season.

You probably could just have said that you didn't agree.
    Simple enough.

I have a different take on Eddie Howe, I see it as them readying for Championship football with a manager prepared to work at that level and build there. What top players are going to go to Newcastle in January, apart from overpaid mercenaries. All that will do is make the dressing room toxic as we have seen in past (think Villa when getting relegated)

As for Gerrard, he has a great back up staff who turned a massive points deficit on Celtic in 1 season. That staff includes our legend Garry Mac a well respected coach (better than as a manager under Bates)

Like "Dead man walking" is just so mild mannered?
