In a free market the value of someone or something is whatever folk are prepared to pay, football money is so crazy these days that calibrating a value is almost meaningless - look at Maguire and that was a few seasons ago.

For me there are a few key positions in a team where the right player is hugely important which is the spine, including a playmaker. In the summer we were in for Ward-Prowse and Smith-Rowe but couldn't get either of them, but it does show we are targeting the right level of quality.

Not sure we need Lingard and West Ham are a bigger pull than us at the minute - for the good of football I hope they win the league.

Well this thread was put out when Deano was sacked Stevie G was not announced, now he has been confirmed at the Church I would say the level of player he wants will be in the 50/60 mill mark. I dont know about you guys but im thinking theres a question mark on both SJM and DL. We need a midfield dynamo I do not know who but has to be in the ranks of Rice or Phillips. Rice would not budge for anything less than 80 mill but Phillips, now we have the massiah that is SG you never know but thats the calibre of player we need, no more 15/20 good players, we need exceptional players!

I think Rice will go to Manu or a club like that. Sideways step coming to villa. I would think we have a chance with John Stones and Philips.

Yes, would be happy with any of those two but also maybe someine a bit more exotic from the spanish league? A Top midfielder. Jan is no time to rebuild.

Rumour doing the rounds that SG will try to sign Nathan Patterson from Rangers. He's only 20 so more of a development signing than the experienced players you guys are looking for. Rangers will probably try and block SG signing any of their players BUT they are in financial trouble again.

Man city are putting Sterling up for sale. That could be the exotic midfield? Long shot i know because Barca are sniffing around him. (No pun intended)

Honestly think if Carney gets more games he will be like a new signing, this lad really excites me think he can be better than Jack imo

Well I hope we dont spend for spend sake, it has to be an improvement on what we got already. Midfield for me, we need a Beasty type commander to dominate and bully the opposition, who? Ask Lange...

I agree dave. Like i said in another thread sometimes its better to play the likes of Archer and Carney instead of spending 30m on players like Ings.
