It's another beauty from MDS, keep em coming chap lol.

To answer your question, as it appears nobody else could be bothered, yeah I'd guess it's a distinct possibility to put Cal in that position. Although IB could do a Wrexham away and surprise everyone.
Agree, reckon he will go for Mitchell to replace RR versus Chesterfield and try and physically match up to them. Mitchell will also have a point to prove against his former employees.

True however he called me an idiot and doubted my football knowledge for suggesting that as a possibility. A week or so later and he is now suggesting our head coach with all his coaching qualifications could also go down that route. Contradiction? Change of heart?

We shouldn't be surprised either way as he thinks Burchnall is a "loser", I just don't think MDS likes him lol.

I prefer Carlton's suggestion of Mitchell in for RR but he could bring in JOB into the midfield and shuffle them about a bit with Roberts in a more advanced position.

I would be amazed if he doesn't put Roberts in at #10. Not saying he definitely will but we have plenty of options to cover Roberts out wide now. Mind you that all depends on how players respond in the Trophy against Alty as I'm sure the likes of Mitchell will be starting that one so needs to put down a marker.

It's the likeliest option I think.

With Ruben out, our creativity will fall on Roberts and Vincent. They'll be the 2 most technically gifted players on the pitch in the Chesterfield game and they'll either get something out of the game for us or lose it for us.

A few weeks ago a poster questioned whether Roberts and Vincent could play in the same team. I don't agree but I could understand where they were coming from - both can be outpaced/out-muscled in the NL and end up giving the ball away a fair bit. And Chesterfield play these tactics of close-marking and intense pressure as soon as the ball enters their danger areas (I think Rowe would prefer an away game against us!)

Don't want to be cynical but Cal and Frank should sell the free-kicks and be onto the ref in that game because they will get roughed up. If they're determined, stay with it and play it smart they could open them up for us...if C'field snuff them out then we're unlikely to get anything IMO. Still a week away, but it's hard not to think about how that game's going to go.

Yeah it’s going to be interesting for sure. I’m doing some courses in opposition analysis which finish end of Jan so I might go premium on my Wyscout membership for a few days to get as much info on Chesterfield as possible.

Not having Ruben could present a bit of a conundrum for IB but there’s real strength in the players being a team and not reliant on one player, who knows, it might even provide us with an answer for life after Ruben!
