If you look at most laps in the lead, race wins, pole positions, fastes laps ect then imo MV deserves the title. Though Christian Horner gets my back up. He's a win at any cost bloke and has no class.
I think the result has to stand as too long has passed to change anything. But there needs to be a honest statement that mistakes were made.

If it had been 3 races ago, it would've finished under the safety car. Rules don't change in football because it's the last game or the FA Cup final.
